Refitting

Removal and installation of a water cooling pump VR6 engine is a time-consuming job. To do this, unscrew the mounting bolts the engine mount, dismount the engine and gearbox mounts them to lift the power plant as far as possible from the engine compartment of the vehicle.
Before starting work on the removal of the water pump, consider the following recommendations:
- If the car has a cassette player, before disconnecting the terminals AB, make sure that you have it with him the security code;
- Disconnect AB no earlier than 20 seconds after the ignition is switched off. This ensures that the so-called "hot wire" in the air flow meter ceased to function;
AB should be disconnected only when the ignition is switched off in order to avoid damaging the computer ignition and injection;
- The replacement of the water pump may need to be replaced and the cooling liquid, if it was already in the system for a long time.
Removing the water pump VR6 engine performed as follows:

Location other parts of the cooling system VR6 engine
Fig. 190. Location of other parts of the engine cooling system VR6: 1 - a bolt, 25 Nm; 2 - the water pump pulley; 3 - bolt 20 Nm; 4 - the water pump; 5 - O-shaped sealing ring is always substitution; 6 - the thermostat; 7 - on the cylinder head; 8 - Pump engine cooling after stop; 9 - rubber grip; 10 - Plug-block cooling pump motor after stopping it; 11 - the throttle body; 12 - the heat exchanger; 13 - a cover; 14 - bolt 10 Nm; 15 - expansion tank; 16 - plug connector, black color; 17 - from the heat exchanger; 18 - the top hose of a cooling liquid; 19 - cooler for the automatic gearbox (if fitted); 20 - lower coolant hose; 21 - oil cooler; 22 - the cylinder block; 23 - drain plug, 10 Nm; 24 - coolant piping

- By removing the drain plug 23 (Fig. 190) in the pipe 24 of the cooling system that runs along the engine, drain the coolant. Then immediately screw the drain plug;
- Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the catalyst. Nuts can immediately throw away, as they need to be replaced with new ones;
- Disconnect the fuel hose from the cylinder head;
- Remove the HV wire from spark plugs and remove the guide wire HV side of the ignition coil and the part of the pipe. Remove the bolts holding the center cover and remove it;
- Completely remove the air filter;
- Remove the air flow meter;

Note
If the terminals with AB has not been removed, check that the ignition has been turned off for at least 20 seconds ago.

- Remove the V-belt;
- Remove the vacuum hose to the regulator fuel pressure (the upper part of the intake manifold);
- Disconnect leading to brake servo vacuum hose at the top of the intake manifold;

Location pads plug coolant temperature sensor (arrow)
Fig. 191. Location plug blocks the coolant temperature sensor (indicated by arrow)

- Disconnect the electrical connector (Fig. 191), the coolant temperature sensor and remove the sensor from the top of the intake manifold;
- Fix the engine for the corresponding loop and use a little lift, lift the engine so as to alleviate its suspension;
- Remove the right front engine mount support;
- Slowly lower the right hand side of the engine (motor) until that became available to the water pump pulley. Thus watch, not to be strained, no joints, pipes, wires, hoses, etc .;
- Fix the water pump pulley in a fixed position, unscrew the bolts and remove a pulley;
- Unscrew and remove the water pump. To remove the pump, motor, move slightly to the left in order to free up some space and remove the pump. The sealing ring thus still stored on the pump and should be replaced for new ones.

Note
Check the pump after removing the presence of oil leaks (which are often marked by rust) and rotate the hub to assess the condition of the bearing.

The installation of the water pump spend to sequences, return to removal, following these guidelines:
- Tighten the pump bolts to 20 N ? m and the pulley bolt to 25 N ? m;
- Fit the drive belt and adjust its tension (see. Sect. 4.7).
