Circulating coolant pump
The engine cooling system has an additional electrical coolant circulation pump. On wiring diagram designated as V51. The circulation pump operates continuously, and in addition cools the engine when it stops, so that the engine cools down hot for some time after switching off the ignition. At the same time as usual to carry out appropriate inspection of the hoses, hose clamps, etc. Verifying additional pump and turning on the fan when the engine is performed as follows:
A warning When inspecting an additional pump performance ignition must be turned off. |
| Fig. 196. Plug strip (arrow), which should be disconnected when checking the pump for cooling the engine after stopping
|
- Disconnect the electrical, four-block (Fig. 196), the temperature sensor fan switch on the thermostat housing;
| Fig. 197. Verification of the temperature sensor to activate the cooling fan after the engine stops and the water pump, "1", "2", "3" and "4" - contacts
|
- Connect with a piece of wire contacts "1" and "3" (brown and red cable and brown-yellow cable) (Fig. 197); - This should make the cooling fan and the circulating water pump; - If the fan and the circulation pump does not work, it means that there are other problems that need to be identified in the workshop Volkswagen with the appropriate instrumentation.
