Adjusting the parking brake

The parking brake lever through the cable mechanism actuates the rear brakes. As the rods used in a flexible steel cable, twisted braid. Wear handbrake in use is negligible. Normally the parking brake adjustment is required, thanks to the system of self-regulation of the brake discs.
Adjusting the parking brake is performed at a proper working brake system in the following cases:
- After replacing the parking brake cable;
- After replacing staples brake disk mechanism;
- After replacing the brake pads or discs;
- With a large parking during lever stroke.

A warning
Cable drive and all moving parts of the parking braking system must be easy to move, while the rear brakes adjusted operating systems.

Adjusting the parking brake sequence is as follows:
- Several times with force press the brake pedal and release it;
- Lower the parking brake lever to the lowest position;
- Lift and set to support the back of the car;

Position the lever of a manual brake on the rear brake caliper when adjusting the parking brake
Fig. 311. The position of the lever of a manual brake on the rear brake caliper when adjusting the parking brake

- Tighten the adjusting nut (Fig. 310) next to the equalizer as long as the lever of a manual brake on the rear brake caliper does not move with the stop (Fig. 311). The resulting gap can be up to 1 mm;
- Set the parking brake lever to the highest position and then lower it. Check that the wheels turn freely. Brake pads should not rub against the brake discs;
- Set the parking brake lever 3-6 clicks and make sure the wheel in this case does not rotate.
If the traction control cables do not provide the proper tension of all brake, then the parking brake adjustment procedure is as follows:
- Fully loosen the knob (see. Fig. 310) the parking brake as long as the parking brake levers in the rear brake calipers not depart back to the stop;
- Draw against each other two small features - on one hand brake lever and the other on the rear brake caliper;
- Slowly tightening the hand brake control, make sure the parking brake levers that have to get up. When the distance between the marks is approximately 1.0 mm, set the parking brake lever to its highest position to pull the parking brake cable leveled off;
- Again check the position of the levers on both the brake calipers of the rear wheels. If it remains the same, then tighten the hand brake control;
- Set the parking brake lever 3-6 clicks and make sure the wheel in this case was not turned;
- Set the parking brake lever to the highest position and then lower it. Check that the wheels turn freely. Brake pads should not rub against the brake discs.
