General description and operation of the system Simos

On the 2.0-liter engine is a new system of multipoint (distributed) injection called Simos, formed from the name of his company's products - ?Siemens?. This advanced multi-point injection system has all the same parts as described electronic injection engine VR6, except that it has only one knock sensor and only 4 jets.

Location Simos injection system in the engine compartment, the 2.0-liter engine

Fuel under pressure, the magnitude of which is supported by a pressure regulator 4 (Fig. 207), is continuously fed to the nozzles 3 that are mounted directly to the inlet valves. ECU 8 calculates the injection pulse duration, and hence the composition of the fuel mixture, depending on the following parameters:
- Throttle position;
- The degree of vacuum or the pressure in the intake manifold;
- Speed of the engine crankshaft.
Electric fuel pump draws fuel from the tank and delivers it under pressure to the fuel distribution manifold. The pressure regulator controls the amount of fuel returned to the tank and maintains a constant fuel pressure to the injectors.
Based on the information received from the sensors computer generates a fuel injection time pulses. When a failure of a sensor control unit switches to the operating mode for "Default" with reduced efficacy on the basis of fixed parameters embedded in a block of memory the computer.
Location of the injection system in the engine compartment of a 2.0-liter engine Simos shown in Fig. 207.
Electronic fuel injection system consists of the following elements:
- A reservoir with activated carbon 1 placed on the right wheel housing;
- Solenoid valve 2 opens and closes the connection between the reservoir of activated carbon and the motor;
- Air flow sensor 19 is located between the air filter and air intake hose;

- Sensor 7 (Fig. 209) informs the computer about the temperature of the intake air;
- Sensor 14 (see. Fig. 207) informs the computer about the specific speed of the engine crankshaft.
The computer system includes Simos memory block or memory device which records all faults (faults) that occurred during operation, having three operating modes:
- Reading stored in the memory failures (faults) that occurred when the engine;
- Check mode of units and systems of the car;
- Mode fault diagnosis systems of injection and ignition with the engine stopped.
Query modes through DLC.
Erase the faults from the storage device is only possible at least after a single code reading mode (number 1) or after the elimination of detected faults (modes ?2 and 3).
