Replacing the brake pads
Note If you plan to install the old brake pads before their withdrawal paint mark (marker Kern) the relative position of the brake pads against the caliper to avoid confusion when installing the inner and outer brake pads and the wheel on which they were installed. |
Removing the rear wheel brake pads performed as follows: - Loosen the screws of the rear wheels; - Paint mark (marker) the relative position of the wheels, brake discs and wheel hubs; - Raise the rear of the car, put it on the support, loosen the bolts and remove the rear wheels; - Release the parking brake. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake caliper;

- Remove the upper and lower mounting bolts (Fig. 322) of the brake caliper Allen key, while holding against rotation thin spanner guide pin for his hex portion; - Remove the caliper by sliding it up and back, and tie wires to the spring rear suspension. Check the technical condition of the brake mechanism spend before installing rear brake pads in the following order: - Clean all parts carefully and check their condition; - Check the condition of the piston and cylinder. When they wear, damage, or severe corrosion, replace the cylinder and piston. - Check the guide pin protection caps. The hardened and torn, replace the protective caps; - Remove from the working surfaces of brake discs oil and dirt. On working surfaces are not allowed bullies, warping, deep risks and other damage, which increases the wear of the pads or reduced braking efficiency. Allowed grinding or turning of the disc at the same time on both sides, but both sides should be handled at the same depth, and thickness of the rear brake disc shall not be less than the permissible;

- Measure the actual thickness of the rear brake discs and brake linings. Brake discs with blue or gray bloom before installing new pads clean; - Check for cracks in the dust cap of the piston cylinder. Damaged replace the dust cap as dust penetrating quickly lead to leakage of brake fluid. Installation - brake pads performed as follows:

- With a special key VW3272 (Fig. 323) in the brake piston screw cylinder clockwise.
Note Before screwing the piston pump out from a tank siphon-blower part of the liquid to prevent it from spilling out of the tank. |
A warning Brake fluid is poisonous, destroys the paint and accelerates the corrosion of metals! In no case do not pump the brake fluid mouth through a hose and use it to siphon bulb. Brake fluid drain into the bottle to be used only for brake fluid. |
- Set the brake pads. Perhaps it will have to screw the piston by a large amount;
Note Before installing the slide in the working position, check for correct installation of brake pads. |
- Establish a support on the brake disk, the operating position, secure it with the new Self-bolts and tighten them to a torque of 35 Nm. If a repair kit Volkswagen new bolts attached, then it is their use; - Connect the parking brake cable to the brake caliper and adjust the parking brake (see. P. 15.1.2); - Repeatedly press firmly on the brake pedal until you feel a strong resistance. At the same time the brake pads will take the position and provide a good fit to the brake disc; - Bleed the brake system if needed; - Establish and temporarily tighten (by hand) wheel bolts; - Lower the car and tighten the wheel bolts crosswise; - Check connections for leaks. Leaking fluids are not allowed; - Check brake fluid level in the compensation tank and restore it to the required level; - Check brake system for leaks with the engine running. What is click a few times on the brake pedal and hold it down for a few seconds. Pedal thus should not squander.
