The engine is equipped with a closed-loop liquid cooling system (Fig. 3.20).
The cooling system consists of an inner and outer loops. The outer loop includes a radiator and expansion tank. Other components of the engine cooling system and heating system of a vehicle to include an internal circuit.
Circulation is carried out with a centrifugal pump, a back cover which is formed in the cylinder block. The pump is driven by the timing belt, ensures a uniform load on the pump bearings.
The system is filled and topped up through the expansion tank.
The only cooling liquid, which is subject to guarantees of Volvo, is branded coolant Volvo, diluted with distilled water at a ratio of 50/50. This mixture prevents corrosion and freezing, has a boiling point of about 135 ?� C.

NOTE
The engine block is not equipped with plugs and prevents it from freezing.
