Battery check
There are two means of checking the battery. Depending on the method of testing requires various measuring instruments. Check the density of the electrolyte | | - Check the density of the electrolyte with the measurement voltage leads to the conclusion about the exact state of charge of the battery. To test using a hydrometer, which can be bought cheaply in the specialized trade. The greater the density of the electrolyte, the more rises the float. The scale can be removed by density values in terms of specific weight (g / ml) or in degrees Baume (? Be). Shall be achieved the following values (the electrolyte at 20 ? C).
|
The degree of charge | Gas engine | Diesel engine | + ? Be | g / ml | + ? Be | g / ml | discharged | 8 | 1.06 | eleven | 1.08 | half charged | 20 | 1.16 | 22 | 1.18 | well charged | thirty | 1.26 | 32 | 1.28 |
- Check alternately each jar battery, the electrolyte in all banks must have the same density (maximum difference of 0.04 g / ml. Otherwise, we can conclude the fault battery.
|
|
Check the battery under load | - Connect a voltmeter to the battery terminals.
 | If the battery voltage (without connected loads) below 12, the battery is low and needs to be recharged. |
- Start the engine and read the voltage.
- When you start voltage charged battery should not fall below 8 (electrolyte temperature of + 20 ? C).
- If the voltage drops immediately and banks revealed various density, this indicates a malfunction of the battery.
- Universal voltage tester can measure the battery. Follow the instructions for use.
Values checking Capacity Ah | Verification current A | Load current A | Undervoltage 5-10 seconds at temperatures from 0 to + 204 ? C | 54 | 265 | 200 | 9.4 In | 64 | 380 | 300 | 9.0 | 88 | 395 | 300 | 9.5 |
 | If this measurement (within 10 seconds), the total voltage drops below the given value, or the battery is discharged or defective. |
