Removing the top section of sump gasoline engine 2.4 and 2.8 liters



Before disconnecting the battery, check whether you have the code switch on the radio.
Switch off the ignition and disconnect a wire of "weight" from the storage battery.

Remove the four screws and remove the engine cover (see. Fig. 3.2.1).
Loosen the hose clamps and remove the air tube connecting the air flow meter and the intake manifold.
Remove the air tubes coming from the front transverse panel to the air filter housing.
Remove the screws, remove the air filter cover and take her away.

Vehicles with exhaust gas recirculation
Disconnect the hose from the pipe connecting the EGR.

All models
Remove the lower section of air filter housing.
Loosen the V-ribbed belt and remove it from the alternator pulley.

Vehicles with accelerator cable

Disconnect vacuum hose 2 (Fig. 6.18) from the vacuum chamber.
1 Remove the two screws attaching the base of the vacuum chamber and take the camera away.

All models
Remove the protective cover from the top of the front suspension struts.
Install the support bar 10-222 on the top of the front suspension struts.
Install adapter 10-222A / 2 on the support bar 10-222 3147 capture and secure the adapter to the lifting eyes of the engine.
Turn the screw of the lifting device, tighten the grip so that the engine weight was perceived by the elevating device.

Remove the bolt guide tube level indicator of engine oil to the cylinder head and remove the tube upwards (Fig. 6.19).

Remove the screws indicated by arrows in Fig. 3.2.2, and remove the bottom mudguard of a motor compartment.
Drain the engine motor oil.
Remove the front bumper.
Install the front transverse panel in service position.
Remove the cap from the expansion tank.
Set under the radiator drain pan coolant.

Rotate counter-clockwise, remove the drain plug from the radiator coolant drain shown in Fig. 6.20 arrow.
When installing the plug replace the O-ring.

Remove from the engine block drain plug drain the coolant as shown in Fig. 6.21 arrow.
When installing the plug replace the O-ring.

Cars with automatic transmission

Remove the two screws (see. Fig. 6.16) mounting brackets to support the piping to the automatic transmission.

All models
Release the clamps, remove and move aside the wires from the starter housing.
On the front side of the engine, remove the bolts compensator reactive torque and bolt hose clamps of the cooling system.
On the left side of the oil pan, disconnect the electrical connector from the oil pressure sensor.
Disconnect water hoses oil heat exchanger.

Note the location of the threaded connections 1 (see. Fig. 6.8) and the mounting sleeves 2 on the right and left engine support.

NOTE
For various modifications of engines using different arrangements of screw connections and mounting bushings.

1 Remove the nuts securing the base left and right engine mounts.
Support sub-frame jack (eg, VAG 1202 A).

Remove bolts 2 and 3 (see. Fig. 6.11) fastenings of the left and right legs of the lower front frame and the last to turn out bolts 1.
Turn down the stabilizer bar.
Remove the starter.
Remove the bolts the lower section of the oil pan.

Turn out bolts 1 (see. Fig. 6.17) fastenings of the cover and remove the cover and the gasket 2.

Remove the bolts attaching the brackets oil supply pipe and remove the long tube (Fig. 6.22).
Remove the bolt and remove the asterisk from the oil pump (see. Fig. 6.22).

Remove the bolts and remove the oil pump (Fig. 6.23).

All models
Remove the bolts transmission to the engine near the upper section of the oil pan.

Remove the bolts the upper section of the oil pan (Fig. 6.24).
Remove the upper section of the oil pan with the centering cylinder sleeves.
Move the upper section of the oil pan down and remove it from the bottom of the car.
Installation is made in sequence, return to removal, taking into account the following.
When you install must be replaced with new all gaskets, O-rings and self-locking nuts.

Cars manufactured before 04.97
Plastic or wooden scraper to remove any remnants of the old gasket mating surface of the upper and lower section of the oil pan.
Place the upper section of the oil pan with the gasket.

Automobile production from 04.97
Plastic or wooden scraper to remove any remnants of the old gasket mating surface of the engine.
With round metal brush, impaled on an electric drill, clean the sealant from the oil pan.

Apply a bead of sealant D176 404 A2 3 mm in diameter on the surface of the oil pan gasket (Fig. 6.25).
After applying sealant sump must be installed for 5 min.
Bead of sealant should have a diameter of less than 3 mm, as excess sealant may get into the oil and clog the mesh maslozabornik.

All models
Crosswise pre-tighten the bolts fastening the upper section of the oil pan 5 Nm.
Tighten the upper section of the oil pan to the transmission torque of 45 Nm.
Finally tighten the bolts securing the top section of the oil pan to the cylinder block to 10 N ?� m.
Install the oil pump.
Install the lower section of the oil pan.
Set the sub-frame.
Fill the engine with engine oil.
Fill in cooling liquid.
Connect a wire of "weight" to the battery.
Turn on the radio and enter the code.
Lift up the power window glass until it stops. Then click on all window switches again for at least 1, in the closed position of the control unit to activate windows.
Set the clock.
