Check and replacement of elements of the stator

Adjustment of a backlash gear

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the M.
2. Additional wires connect the battery terminals to terminals S and M.
3. Turn on the ignition, with the starter pinion comes out ahead.

A warning

This test must be completed within 10 seconds, because, otherwise, it may burn out the coil of the traction relay.

4. Check the probe gap between the pinion and the stopper. If the clearance is not correct, adjust it by adding or removing spacers between the traction relay and the front cover.

Gear backlash: 0,5-0,2 mm

Check of the traction relay of a starter

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the M.
2. Additional wires connect the battery terminals to terminals S and M.
3. Turn on the ignition, with the starter pinion comes out ahead. If the gear does not extend, replace magnetic switch.

A warning

This test must be completed within 10 seconds, because, otherwise, it may burn out the coil of the traction relay.

Check keeping winding of the traction relay

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the M.
2. Additional wires connect the battery terminals to the terminal S and body of the traction relay.

A warning

This test must be completed within 10 seconds, because, otherwise, it may burn out the coil of the traction relay.

3. If the gear is left in place, thus retaining damaged winding traction relay and the need to replace the traction relay.

Checking the return plunger traction relay

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the M.
2. Additional wires connect the battery terminals to terminal M and the housing of the traction relay.

A warning

This test must be completed within 10 seconds, because, otherwise, it may burn out the coil of the traction relay.

3. Gear starter should move forward. After disconnecting the wires starter pinion must quickly return to the starting position.

Performance tests (idling)

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To test idle assemble the circuit shown in the figure.
2. Set the engine rheostat in a position in which the voltmeter shows voltage of 11.5 V, check with the current consumed by the starter, and make sure the starter shaft rotates easily and smoothly.

Current: not more than 60 A

Gear Freewheel

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To remove the freewheel to the shaft of the rotor, you must first remove the thrust ring.
2. Move to the thrust ring gear and remove the snap ring. Now thrust ring can be removed from the shaft.

Check rotor winding

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. An ohmmeter check up conductivity between the collector and the rotor. In the presence of conductivity replace the rotor.
2. In a special device, check the rotor winding.

If there is a short circuit, replace rotor. If the steel strip is attached to the rotor vibrates, it means that the rotor windings are shorted.
3. ohmmeter check up conductivity between the segments of the collector. In the absence of conductivity replace the rotor.

Checking the stator coils

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. An ohmmeter check up conductivity of the stator coils. In the absence of conductivity, replace the stator coil.
2. coil mounted in the housing, check conductivity between the terminal and the starter coil. In the presence of conductivity, replace the stator coil.

Check brushes

PERFORMANCE ORDER
If the brush is worn to the designated limit, replace it.

Check the brush holder

PERFORMANCE ORDER
An ohmmeter check up conductivity between each isolated brush and plate. In the presence of conductivity, replace the brush holder.

Checking freewheel

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Check the condition of gear teeth freewheel and, if damaged, replace it. Also check the condition of the teeth of the flywheel.

Turn gear. Gear should be free to rotate clockwise and locked when turning clockwise

Replacement brush

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the worn brush, while being careful not to damage the braided wire.
2. sandpaper strip the end of the braided halter, to ensure good contact it with a new brush.
3. Solder the braided wire.

Replacing the rear hub

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before you remove the sleeve, it is necessary to measure the depth of installation.
2. The sleeve may be removed using a stripper, as shown in Fig.
3. Install the new plug on previously measured depth.

Fitting the starter

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Place the freewheel on the front end of the rotor shaft.
2. Install the thrust ring and the snap ring from the front side of the rotor shaft, then move the thrust ring all the way to the spring ring.
3. Installation of the lever in the front cover note at its position. If the lever is set on the contrary, the gear will be constantly pushed to the outside and can not work properly.
