Check the voltage drop across the wire that connects the battery to the alternator

This test allows you to determine the reliability of the connection terminals "B" of the generator to the positive terminal of the battery.

Preparing for inspection

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Turn on the ignition.
2. Connect a digital voltmeter to the terminal "B" of the generator and to the positive terminal of the battery.

Test condition

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Start the engine, turn on the lights, heater fan and other consumers of electricity and read on the voltmeter readings.

Result of checking

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The voltmeter should show pressure of 0.3 V.
2. If the voltage is more than 0.3V, then the wire is damaged or is not securely connected to the terminals of the generator and the battery.

To check the wires connect the terminal "B" and the positive terminal of the battery with additional wire fused.

Check the connection wires to the terminals and make sure that the insulation of the wire is melted by overheating.
3. Finally, turn off all electricity consumers and stop the engine.
