Strut front suspension

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the front wheel.
  1. Separate the bracket of a brake hose from brake strut front suspension.

Do not tear or damage the brake pipe.

  1. Remove the upper mounting.
  1. Remove the nut, remove the bolts attaching the stand to the steering knuckle and remove the rack from under the wing of the car.

Dismantling

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Flat blade screwdriver, remove the dust cap.
  1. Special adaptation J38402, - 42 compress a spring strut front suspension.

For the spring, use only reliable tool.

  1. Loosen the lock nut in the upper part of the shock-absorber rod.
  2. Remove the support pillar, upper spring seat, coil spring, dust cover and the lower spring seat.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check the bearing support of a rack for wear or damage.
  1. Check the rubber parts for damage or deterioration in their condition.
  2. Check the coil spring in the absence of depression and loss of elasticity.
    1) Check and adjust tire pressure.
    2) Load the vehicle load, which is usually transported in it.
    3) To verify the spring make a control trip, and then gradually make the following checks.
    4) Check each shock absorber, consistently and strongly pushing up at the corner of the bumper nearest the shock absorber being tested for. Each Checking the same effort and mark resistance when pressed and returns to its original state. Compare the test results with the car, the quality of the motion which is satisfactory. Both the shock absorbers on the same axle of a vehicle must have the same resistance. If the resistance varies, check the following.
    5) Lift the rear axle of the car enough to relieve the strut.
    6) Remove the screws fixing the lower racks. Compress racks at different rates for the entire course of the shock absorber and in both directions. Compare the results for the two sides of the vehicle during compression and return to its original state. Resistance to return the rack to its original state is usually stronger than the compression (approximately one to two times). The right and left rack must show the same results. The difference of the results between the front and rear pillars - normal.
  1. Check for the presence of abnormal shock resistance or abnormal noise.

1) Check the tightening torque fastener rack. Inadequate tightening torques may result in abnormal noise.
2) If all the attachment in order to isolate the damaged unit, test in accordance with paragraph. 3 and 4).
3) To test the control will make a trip.
4) If one of the racks rear suspension works with strokes, lift the rear axle of the car enough to relieve the strut. Remove the bolts securing the lower racks. Check the rack to abnormal noise, which is rapidly and completely squeeze it. If you only hear a hissing noise - this is normal.
5) other undesirable noises can be detected vehicle deliberate rocking up and down. Any sound except for the hiss of anomalies is therefore necessary to replace a rack.

  1. Check shock absorber for leaks.
    1) Fully extend the shock, while turning the shock absorber rod and check the area near the stem seal.
    2) Check for fluid leaks in the area of stem seals.
    3) Minor plaque fluid is not the cause for the replacement of the shock absorber as a minor leak lubricates the stem.
    4) considerable leakage of fluid from the shock absorber can be easily detected in the wake of the fluid, and the need to replace the shock absorber.

Disposal of the shock absorber

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Fully extend the shock-absorber rod.
  1. Drill a hole to remove the gas from the cylinder.

The effluent gas from the absorber is safe, but care must be taken to avoid injury from flying out of chips.

Assembly

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Install the lower spring seat so that its tabs into the holes in the spring plate.
  1. Replace the shock absorber dust cover.
  2. Special adaptation J38402, - 42 compress a spring strut front suspension. After a complete spring set it to shock.

Install the coil spring marked directed to the steering knuckle.

  1. Fully extend the shock-absorber rod and set the upper spring seat and a support strut.

Align the D-hole in the upper spring seat with the flats on the damper rod.

  1. Position the upper and lower ends of the coil spring, setting them in the recess, and screw the self-locking nut, but do not tighten it completely.
  1. Remove the adaptation for spring compression.
  2. Tighten the self-locking nut required torque. Torque: 50-70 N ??? m.
  3. Lubricate the upper bearing strut and install the dust cap.

Make sure that the lubricant is not got to support racks rubber parts.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. When installing strut front suspension, ensure that the pre-cleaned mating surfaces and the identification mark is directed towards the rear of the vehicle.
  2. Tighten all threaded connections demanded moment.

Torque:

Nut top of the rack: 45-60 N ??? m
Nut steering knuckle to the rack: 130-150 N ??? m

  1. Secure the front brake hose and wire gauge ABS.
