Removing and installing engine and gearbox assembly



Withdrawal
Remove the battery.

Remove the air duct of the air filter (Fig. 2.32).
Disconnect the gauge-switch reversing light and the engine wiring harness.
On models with the 5-speed manual gearbox, disconnect the sensor connector, reversing light switch.
Disconnect the generator harness.
Drain the coolant.

NOTE
When disconnecting the hoses are always pre-coated with the timing marks to when connecting hoses were installed in its original position.

ATTENTION
Be careful when disconnecting the hose, do not spill oil or other liquid. Stop disconnected tubes or hoses to prevent foreign material from entering.

Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses from the engine, and then remove the heat sink assembly (Fig. 2.34).
Disconnect a wire of "weight" of the engine.
Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
Disconnect the main fuel hose and fuel return hose EVAP from the engine.
Disconnect both hoses (inlet and outlet) heater on the engine side.
Disconnect the cable from the accelerator pedal of the engine.
On models with a manual transmission, remove the shift cable from gearbox.
On models with automatic transmission, remove the control cable from the automatic transmission gearbox.
Disconnect the cable of a drive of a speedometer from a transmission.

Disconnect the air conditioning compressor from its mounting bracket (Fig. 2.35).

Drain the oil or automatic transmission fluid (ATF) of the gearbox (Fig. 2.36).
Disconnect a reception exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

NOTE
Use the wire tie reception pipe of the exhaust system to the car body.

On models with manual gearbox Remove selector cable and shift cable (Fig. 2.37).

Remove the bolts from the lower arm ball joint and stabilizer to the lower control arm.
Disconnect drive shafts from the gearbox.

ATTENTION
Close the holes for the wheel drive shaft in the gearbox to prevent ingress of dirt and foreign particles.
Before installing the drive shafts of the wheels, replace the retaining rings shaft.

With the help of wire hang lower arm and the drive shaft of the vehicle body.
With the help of chains or ropes fix the engine on the traverse of the mounting brackets and hang it on the lift. Slightly lift the engine assembly support of the engine to unload the weight of the power unit before performing the following operations.

Remove the front engine support (Fig. 2.38).

The rear engine mount

Remove the rear engine support (Fig. 2.39).
Remove the bolts from the side engine mount.

A lateral support bracket

Remove the bracket from the motor side bearing (Fig. 2.40).
Slowly raise the engine to offload supports the weight of the engine and gearbox assembly and temporarily leave it in a suspended position.

ATTENTION
Check that the engine had disconnected all the cables, wires (electrical connectors), hoses, etc.

Remove the cap from the inside of the left wing splash guard and remove the bracket bolts gearbox support.
Directing powertrain gearbox down, lift the engine and gearbox assembly from the engine compartment and remove them from the vehicle.
