Verifying the fuel pump
Switch off the ignition. Check the operation of the fuel pump, the battery voltage is applied to the findings of an electric pump motor connector.
NOTE The fuel pump is installed in the fuel tank, so the operation sound is heard only at the removed tank filler cap. |
| Fig. 2.210. Checking the supply pressure in the fuel hose
|
Make sure that supply the fuel hose is under pressure, squeezing his hand (Fig. 2.210).
Checking fuel pressure
| Fig. 2.211. Hatch for access to the fuel pump from the car (rear seat folded)
|
Fold the rear seat backrest, then fold the rear seats folded forward (Fig. 2.211).
| Fig. 2.212. Hatch for access to the fuel pump (open)
|
Use a screwdriver to open the cover flap of the fuel pump in the bottom of the car under the rear seat (Fig. 2.212). To release the pressure in the fuel lines and hoses, start the engine when the fuel pump is turned off and wait until the engine stops.
NOTE Before disconnecting the pipe and the fuel hose, you must relieve the pressure of fuel to prevent its emission. |
Disconnect the terminal from the negative terminal ("-") of the battery and connect the electrical connector of the fuel pump.
| Fig. 2.213. Pressure gauge for measuring the pressure of fuel in the system
|
Connect the pressure gauge (Fig. 2.213) to the fuel filter with an adapter. Tighten the fitting attaching the fuel pressure gauge adapter. Connect the terminal to the negative terminal ("-") battery. Turn the fuel pump, the battery voltage is applied to the conclusions of the electrical connector of the pump. After creating a fuel pressure check for leakage of fuel through the pressure gauge and its connection. Start the engine and let it run at idle. Check the fuel pressure. Nominal value: 350 kPa (3.5 kgf / cm 2). If the fuel pressure is not correct, determine the cause and correct the problem as described below. Stop the engine and observe the fuel pressure at the pressure gauge: the pressure should be kept for about 5 minutes. If the pressure drops, determine the speed of the fall. Identify and correct the cause of the pressure drop, as described below.
NOTE When disconnecting the hose fitting cover with a cloth to prevent the release of fuel, as the fuel is under residual pressure. |
Replace the hose fitting O-ring. Connect the fuel hose to the fuel pump nozzle and tighten the union. Make sure there are no leaks of fuel.
Replacement of the fuel filter and fuel pump Relieve the pressure in the fuel lines and hose, do the following: Remove the rear seat cushion and disconnect the electrical connector of the fuel pump. Start the engine, wait until the motor stops, turn off the ignition.
| Fig. 2.214. Removing the negative terminal of the battery
|
Disconnect the terminal from the negative terminal ("-") of the battery (Fig. 2.214). Connect the electrical connector of the fuel pump. Remove the eye bolts, holding the nut fastening of the fuel filter.
NOTE Cover the fuel filter cloth to prevent leakage of fuel left in him. |
Unscrew the fuel filter and remove the filter from the clamp fastening. After replacing the fuel filter, make sure there are no leaks of fuel.
Replacing the overflow limiter (off valve)
Disconnect the fuel vapor hose outlet (Fig. 2.215), then remove the stopper overflow.
| Fig. 2.216. Installation position of overflow stop
|
Attach the stopper to the overflow fuel pipe in the correct position (Fig. 2.216).
Replacing the fuel gauge sender Remove the filler cap of the fuel tank pressure relief in the tank.
| Fig. 2.217. Sensor fuel level indicator and fuel pump
|
Remove the screws that secure the sensor fuel gauge and remove the sensor from the tank (Fig. 2.217).
