Check and adjust the tension of V-ribbed belts

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check the V-belt and its location on the pulleys.

Check the location of the edges of the V-ribbed belt pulley groove.

If the V-ribbed belt makes unusual noise, check the belt for wear and damage, as well as working surfaces of pulleys. Also check belt deflection defining its tension.

2. The special device measure a belt tension. In the absence of a special tool, check the belt tension, having pressed on it effort of 100 N in a place located on identical removal from pulleys and measure a belt deflection.

Typical values belt drive the air conditioning compressor

Engine DOHC 2,0 / 2,4 l

Engine V6 2,5 liter

The belt tension is adjusted automatically tensioning.

The belt tension should be measured exactly in the center between the pulleys.

When a new belt is installed, adjust the tension to the average value given in the column "New".

Reused belt is considered to be a belt, worked on the engine for more than 5 minutes and the tension must be adjusted to the average value given in column

When adjusting the tension of a used belt or belt, who worked on the engine for more than 5 minutes it is necessary to adjust the tension to the average value given in the column "Second hand".

For periodic check-ups should be guided by the column "Test".

Adjustment

Engine DOHC 2,0 / 2,4 l

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Loosen the screws "A" locking bolt tension adjustment.
2. Turn the adjusting bolt "B", adjust the belt tension.
3. Tighten the bolt "A" fixing bolt tension adjustment.

4. Check the belt tension and, if necessary, repeat the adjustment.

Before re-check belt tension, turn a few revolutions of the engine crankshaft.

Engine V6 2,5 liter

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If the belt tensioning mechanism beyond the maximum mark tension, replace the belt.

2. When replacing the drive belt tensioner indicator must be between the MAX and MIN.

Tension measurement special device type A

  1. When measuring the tension device wedge a belt must not touch the other components of the engine.

Tension measurement special device type B

  1. When measuring ensure that the key turned in the direction of re-installation of the arrow, the arrow to set the device to its original state.
  2. After removing the unit from the belt needle still will indicate the belt tension.
