Removing and installing engine and gearbox



PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the battery.

2. Remove the air filter.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine wiring harness.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the generator and the oil pressure sensor.
5. Drain the coolant.
6. On vehicles with automatic transmission disconnect hoses gearbox oil cooler.

Label the hose before removing to avoid confusion when re-joining.


Be careful to avoid transmission fluid drained from the hoses. To eliminate the dirt close the ends of the hose plugs.

7. Remove the upper and lower hoses from the radiator and remove the radiator.

8. Remove all the high-voltage wires from the ignition coil and the distributor.
9. Disconnect the motor wire connection with "weight".
10. Disconnect the vacuum hose of the vacuum brake booster.

11. Disconnect hoses from the engine and fuel return.

Gasoline is extremely flammable, when working with elements of the fuel system is forbidden the use of fire, sparking devices open by fire-dangerous light devices and smoking. Avoid sparking when handling cables and electrical devices.

12. Remove the coolant hoses going to a heater.

13. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the engine and a cable cruise control.

14. Disconnect the cable transmission control.
15. Disconnect from a transmission cable of a drive of a speedometer.

16. Remove the oil pump hose power steering.

17. Raise the vehicle.
18. Remove protection sump.
19. Drain the oil from the gearbox.

20. Remove the front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

Soft wire fix the exhaust pipe to the vehicle floor.

21. Remove the bolts of the lower arm ball joint, then peel off the ball rod end from the steering knuckle.

22. pry, pry internal hinges of power shafts from a transmission.

After disconnecting the drive shafts from the gearbox in order to avoid contamination, close the openings with suitable plugs.

Before installing the drive shafts replace the retaining ring.

23. Support the engine lifting mechanism.

24. Remove the front engine support.

25. Remove the rear engine mounting.

26. Disconnect the starter.
27. Remove the lower bolts (the sub) frame.

28. Remove the bolts and nuts of the lower frame to the body.

29. Slowly raise the engine and gearbox and temporarily leave them in this position.

Check that the engine and disconnect the electrical connectors, hoses, pipes and wiring harnesses.

30. Remove the bracket bolts gearbox.

31. Remove the left support.

32. In dismissing the gearbox down, remove the engine together with a transmission from the car.
