Fuel pump

Check
The fuel pump is attached to the cylinder head of the engine on the rear side (on the side bulkhead).
Structurally, the pump is not folding, and can not be repaired. However, you can view and test the pump without removing it from the car.
Ensure that the fuel tank has a fuel.
With the engine running, check for leaks from all connections of the fuel from the fuel tank to the carburetor. Tighten loose connections.
Check the hose should be at bends, pinching, which restrict the flow of fuel. The rate of fuel supply pump greatly affects air leak and clamping the hose from the supply side.
Check for fuel leaks on the flange of the diaphragm pump.
Disconnect from the distributor of ignition high-voltage wire of the ignition coil and carefully connect the wire to the "weight" of the car to avoid sparks. Then disconnect the tube from the carburetor fuel supply and install under it a vessel.

Verifying the fuel pump
Fig. 6.1. Verifying the fuel pump

Turn a few turns the crankshaft of the engine and make sure the open end of the tube enters a small portion of fuel (Fig. 6.1). If the fuel does not arrive, then the fuel supply line clogged filter or faulty fuel pump.
Disconnect the fuel line on both sides and blow it out with compressed air. If the fuel line is not blocked, replace the fuel pump.

Refitting

A WARNING
Gasoline is extremely flammable, when working with elements of the power system is forbidden the use of fire, sparking devices open by fire-dangerous light devices and smoking. It should prevent sparks when handling cables and electrical devices. It is forbidden to carry out work in the garage with the supply of natural gas.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Fuel pump
Fig. 6.2. Fuel pump: 1 - hoses and fuel return; 2 - the fuel pump; 3 - the fuel return pipe

Pliers to loosen the clamps, remove the plugs and close the hoses and fuel return (Fig. 6.2). Remove the stopper and close the fuel return pipe.
Unscrew the pump, remove the pump and spacer pads.
Install the pump by placing the pads on both sides of the spacer.
Connect the fuel hoses, start up the engine and check for leaks.
