Overview

Mazda vehicles equipped with a 626 inline four liquid-cooled diesel engine, mounted transversely. The cylinder block is made of cast iron, the cylinder head - of aluminum. The valves open an overhead camshaft. Valve clearance is adjusted by means of shims. The gap should be checked and if necessary adjusted by routine maintenance, the appearance of knocks in the valve mechanism or after engine repair. On models since 1987 release timing belt camshaft drives the fuel pump of high pressure.

Technical specifications

The principle of operation of the diesel engine
In a diesel engine air is sucked into the cylinders, where it undergoes a very high compression ratio. Due to this, the temperature in the cylinder becomes higher than the ignition temperature of diesel oil - diesel fuel is ignited, the spark plugs are therefore not required. On the cold engine the ignition temperature of the fuel is only due to the high compression ratio can not be achieved. In this case, the engine is warmed up (pre-heating the engine). For this purpose the glow plug in each swirl chamber diesel engine, fueled combustion chamber. Fuel is drawn directly to the high-pressure fuel pump (fuel pump) from the fuel tank. The pump creates the necessary high pressure (about 130 bar), and the fuel is distributed to the cylinders in accordance with the sequence of ignition. At the same time the regulator pump dispenses the fuel supply as a function of the degree of pressing the accelerator pedal. At some point diesel fuel is injected through nozzles into a chamber of the cylinder. Depending on the shape of the prechamber or swirl chamber intake air under compression provides a whirling motion, which contributes to an optimal mixing of air and fuel injected.
Before entering the high pressure fuel pump fuel passes through the fuel filter and is cleaned from dirt and water. It is therefore particularly important to drain the water from the filter and replace it according to the rules of service.
High pressure fuel pump does not require maintenance. All moving parts are lubricated by diesel fuel pump. The pump is driven by a toothed belt.
Since a diesel engine fuel autoignition occurs, it is impossible to stop switching off the ignition, so the engine equipped with the electromagnetic valve. When you turn off the ignition power is turned off the valve and it closes the fuel supply passage. This ensures the termination of the fuel supply to the steering lock when the key is removed from the switch (lock) of ignition. At engine start-up voltage is supplied through the ignition switch to the solenoid valve, and it opens the fuel supply passage.

A WARNING
When working with the unit injection diesel engine, observe cleanliness.
