Spark plug

Spark plugs should be changed every 2 years or 30 000 km.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Cool the engine up to temperature, which can withstand the hand.
2. Remove the cross tube of the air filter.
3. 4-cylinder engine: to unscrew the cylinder head cover guard high voltage (5/1).
4. 6-cylinder engine: unscrew the protective cover high voltage (5/1) on the cylinder head cover. Remove the ignition coil connected with the control circuit wires and put them aside.
5. Loosen all of the contact spark plug, and then remove them. At the same time, always pull the lugs rather than wires.
6. If possible, gently blow compressed air niche of spark plugs.
7. Remove the spark plug (R4) with a suitable spark plug wrench or key HAZET 2776 and check the appearance of the screw-in candles. With some experience, you can from this draw conclusions about the operating condition of the engine. The following rules.
Electrodes and insulators:
- Crednesery color - normal combustion and normal operation of the spark plug.
- Black - too rich fuel mixture.
- Light gray color - too lean fuel mixture.
- Purple - disruptions in the respective spark plugs or poor sealing piston rings.
8. Check the dipstick electrode gap. Specification: 0.8 mm.
9. To establish a gap between contacts bend the side electrode. To do this, tap the side of the side electrode. When pulling away, keep the edge of a small screwdriver carving candles, but in any case the center of the electrode, otherwise the electrode may be damaged.
10. Clean the threads on the plugs and the cylinder head.
11. Hand screw the spark plug until secure fit on the cylinder head.
A warning

Inserting the spark does not distort them. It should pay attention to, because the 4-valve engines candles sit deep in their nests. In view of this it is recommended especially for Mercedes engines apply the appropriate candle key HAZET 2776.

12. Tighten the spark plug to 25 Nm
A warning

Too tight the spark plug when twisting may break or damage the threads in the cylinder head. In this case, the thread of the screw-in candles can be restored using the UTC-inserts (or Heli-Coil).

13. Push the contact tips of spark plugs. Alternately moving back and forth to check the hard tip contact tip spark plugs and high voltage.
14. 6-cylinder engine: Fit the ignition coil with wire sockets.
15. Screw the protective covers on the cylinder head cover. Install the cross tube of the air filter and fix it with hose clamps.

Harmonization with the fuel quality

C-Class engines usually require unleaded gasoline for high performance engine with an octane rating of 96-98 (of 95 ROZ). If this software is not guaranteed fuel, for example, abroad, it can be temporarily refueled and unleaded gasoline irregular (for ROZ 91). Octane number determined by ROZ, indicates the fuel knock resistance.

At engines volume of 2.2 and 2.8 liters thanks to knock control, auto-negotiation is carried out with the appropriate fuel quality.

On engines of 1.8 and 2.0 liters of harmonization carried out by removing the leveling plug. Due to this, ignition is switched to another characteristic of ignition. This new feature allows you to operate the car ignition when using unleaded fuel for vehicles with mildly uprated engines, octane number up to 92 by 91 ROZ.
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Loosen the screw that secures the plastic washer fluid reservoir and lift the tank.
2. Remove the plug leveling (R16 / 7), which is next to the engine regulating device (PMS).
3. If you still use gasoline for cars with high performance engine, the octane number of 96-98, implant aligning plug.
A warning

When using gasoline for cars with moderately forced engines can reduce power and improve fuel consumption. Strive to avoid full throttle.

Petrol with a higher octane number, such as "Super Plus" (ROZ 98), can be used without ever switching the alignment plug.
