Introduction



Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Model 190, lovingly called the "baby Benz", was produced from 1982 to 1993, but now does not seem old. It was a response to the release of the BMW in 1982 completely redesigned 3-series. Both cars - the middle class and direct competitors. The new class C, which replaced the 201 series in 1993, to an even greater extent embodies the quality of production Mercedes.

As for the machines of the new Class C, replaced the 190th model, these cars are very different from their predecessors for the better. They are the body without any problems until now. Full-scale equipment (adjustable seats, ABS, airbag for the driver) provides a pleasant ride and safety. But even in these machines a number of drawbacks. In versions S200D / S220D release 1994 failures occur in the engine, especially during acceleration at medium speed (because of problems in the computer (the control circuit of the high pressure pump)). On some vehicles the engine control computer was replaced under warranty. In versions 220D / 250D release in 1994 there are noise valves and carbon formation on the exhaust valves, causing the loss of power due to lower compression (valves do not close completely). This issue is addressed in 1995 by the chrome plating on the valve stems.

Electric very good and raises no objections. The only thing here to note the changes adjust the exterior mirrors in private cars in 1994 (class C). The machines equipped with air conditioning, after turning it off immediately misted glass, especially in the case of heavy contamination of the filter.

What to prefer?

Cars with automatic transmission are low demand in the market of second-hand vehicles. As for the new C-Series, the best choice - version of the C180. It has slightly less power than the version of the C200 and C220, but the smooth ride is not to be felt. C200 Elegance version with an engine capacity of 136 hp more expensive due to the high level of finishes: wood inserts, power windows on all doors, electric external antenna. Powerful version of S280 with an excellent 6-cylinder engine - a very nice car. Also worthy of respect and S250D diesel version, although it is not cheap. The C-Class cars with automatic transmission it is "softer" than the manual.

The Mercedes 201-m body is a worthwhile purchase. And it is even more true of the new series of machines C.

Troubleshooting
