Index glow of
Spark plug comprises a central electrode with an insulator body and a side electrode. Side electrode is secured tightly in the insulator, the insulator is firmly connected to the housing. Between the central and lateral electrode slips igniting the spark that ignites the fuel mixture. From spark plugs depend on the willingness to start the engine operation at idle, acceleration (acceleration) and maximum speed. Therefore, do not give up without a reason prescribed by the type of spark plug, which is determined, among other things, the glow of the index. The index of the glow indicates the degree of the heat load of the spark plug. The lower the index the glow of the higher thermal load. Consequently, the candle can better dissipate heat, thereby preventing harmful surface ignition (detonation engine). However, the candle with a high thermal load has the disadvantage that the temperature of self-cleaning as above. So she quickly covered with soot, especially if the engine while driving does not reach its operating temperature (the movement in the city, short distance driving in winter). As a rule, the "cold" spark plugs (glow index number starting with 06) are used in "hot" engines of power units that require high power. When using copper cores (Cu) in the central spark plug electrodes, especially when using silver central electrodes increases thermal conductivity and thus heat load. The index contains the glow of the spark plug in the code that is interpreted as follows: Spark plugs from Bosch
Example: F | R | 8 | D | FROM | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
(1) W = thread M 14 x 1.25 flat tight fit, SW 21 (width across flats); F = thread M 14 x 1.25 flat tight fit, SW 16 (width across flats); H = thread M 16 x 1.25 with a conical press fit, SW 16 (width across flats). (2) R = with a resistor for suppression of interference. Due to this, the operation of the ignition system has no interference. (3) index glow. Scale mantle numbers include numbers from 06 - "cold" and 13 - "warm". The index corresponds to the old 8 heat rating of 175 (earlier mark), 7 - 200 6 - 225 and so on. D. (4) = the length of the cut 19 mm, the normal trajectory of a spark discharge; L = length of the cut 19 mm, stretched trajectory of the spark discharge; L = length of the cut 19 mm, extremely stretched trajectory of the spark discharge. For information about the length of the cut to the spark plugs are flat-tight fit. Addition of the letter "T" (for example, "DT") = 3 ground electrodes. (5) The material of the central electrode: no indication = Cu-Ni - alloy C = Ni-Cu - combined central electrode S = silver center electrode, P = platinum center electrode. (6) O = standard spark plug with a reinforced central electrode. Spark plugs Beru company Example: 14 | F | 8 | D | AND | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
(1) thread diameter in mm is: M 14 x 1.25. (2) F = flat tight fit, K = conic tight fit, R = 5 ohm resistor Noise / 10K. (3) The index of the glow, decoding, as well as at the company Bosch. (4) The length of the cut portion, decoding, as in the company Bosch. (5) The material of the central electrode: U = "ultra" (Ni-Cu - combined center electrode), S = silver center electrode, P = platinum center electrode. (6) O = reinforced the central electrode; R = with protective resistor (to reduce the erosion of the electrodes of the spark plugs).

The distance between the electrodes in the spark plug is 0.8 mm. A warning Technical development does not stand still. Therefore, it is possible that for certain new engines will be used for different heat range spark plugs. For this reason we recommend that you purchase a new spark plug to check which set candles or candles which are prescribed in accordance with the instruction manual. In case of doubt, check with experts on actual heat range spark plugs.
