Oil consumption

- It is necessary to add oil, you should take the time to determine the oil consumption:
- Gently pour the oil exactly to the upper division;
- After 500 or 1,000 kilometers with measuring devices, and add oil to determine the flow rate at 1,000 km.
Part of the oil inevitably burned during engine operation. Run-engines consume about 0.2 liters per 1,000 km. Oil consumption depends on the following circumstances.
Overflow oil leads to an increase in its consumption, because under the influence of the crankcase ventilation surplus falls into the cylinders of the engine.
Low viscosity oil burns faster than high. Seasonal oil becomes hot liquid such as water, multigrade oil is more viscous. This quality, in particular, can reduce oil consumption when traveling long distances.
Motor oil, especially multigrade, which remains in the engine must be frequently changed.
The active driving style, in addition to increased fuel consumption, leads to increased oil consumption. This is particularly evident when the new engine immediately gets a full load.
During the running engine needs more lubrication.
Oil leaks can occur at the following locations:
- Laying the crankshaft and camshaft (these places are closed casing);
- Laying on the cylinder head cover;
- Cylinder head gasket;
- oil pressure sensor;
- Installation of the oil filter;
- Oil pan gasket;
- Rear lip crankshaft (oil appears at the junction between the engine and gearbox);
- Places wear of engine components, for example, because of defective valve stem seals, is too big a gap between the rod and the valve guide, incorrectly installed piston rings (if they are replaced), due to a defective or damaged cylinder wall scuffing.
Frequent checks show that the engine consumes a little oil or no spending
For short trips in the winter time, the level of oil can not fall off or even rise. Increased oil means that it contains oil or condensate. Such oil teir lubricating properties, so it is recommended to make regular long trips for the "evaporation" of the condensate. Immediately after they check the oil level, as it may be significantly reduced as a result of evaporation of the fuel or water! With intensive urban operation without performing the intermediate long trips, choose an appropriate interval between oil changes. Suitable spacing can be determined empirically during vehicle operation.
