Fuel pump and injectors are very sensitive to contamination of diesel fuel. To clean the fuel filter is used. Every 60 000 km it is necessary to replace the filter element. In Fig. 166 shows the position of the fuel filter in the engine compartment. When his replacement must be guided by Fig. 167. In Fig. 168 shows the details of the fuel filter on the engine of 2.9 liters and its installation. Replace the fuel filter element must be carried out as follows:
- Remove the air filter (diesel engine with turbo);
- Unscrew the bottom of the cartridge 1 (see. Fig. 167) filter. It should substitute a container under the escaping fuel. If you are replacing only the filter element, screw the new cartridge;
- To remove the filter housing Release screws and remove the 4 fasteners 3 and 5;
- Disconnect the fuel lines 6 and 7 of the housing 2 of the filter. Also unscrew the hose 8 Fuel;
- Unscrew the screws fixing the filter housing to the cylinder head and remove.
Installation is performed in reverse order. Housing Screw the cylinder head to 23 Nm, securing the hose to the fuel filter - 9 N ?� m.
