Engines equipped with a circulating lubrication system under pressure.

The oil pump sucks oil through the grid of the oil pan and feeds it under pressure into the system through the oil filter. At the outlet of the oil pump is a pressure reducing valve. When the pressure is higher than the value of the valve opens and part of the oil to drain back into the oil pan.

Through the central opening of the oil filter oil flows directly into the main channel. When clogged oil filter bypass valve directs the oil in the system is not filtered.

From the main oil line branched channels for lubrication of the bearings of the crankshaft. Through inclined holes in the crankshaft oil is supplied to the connecting rod bearings. For piston cooling oil is injected at them from below through nozzles.

At the same time the oil reaches the gallery through vertical cylinder head and goes for the lubrication of bearings of camshafts and valve train elements of timing.

Depending on the power of the engine oil can be cooled in an additional oil cooler is located on the side, at the oil filter housing and switched to the cooling circuit of the engine.

Oil consumption

In internal combustion engines for oil consumption is understood to mean the amount that is consumed as a result of the combustion process. Not to be confused with its oil consumption loss arising as a result of leakage of the oil pan, cylinder head cover, etc.

Normal oil consumption occurs due to the combustion of a small quantity of oil in the cylinder, due to the removal of combustion products and wear. Furthermore, oil is lost due to high combustion temperatures and high pressures which occur during engine operation. On the consumption of oil also affected by external operating conditions, such as driving style, as well as the manufacturing tolerances of the engine parts. Oil consumption should not exceed 0.8 l / 1000 km.

In no case do not fill above the Max. If you have poured excessive amounts of oil, it is necessary to remove it. Otherwise, it may be damaged by the catalytic converter, because unburned oil gets into the exhaust system.
