Safety locks - the general information

To protect the contact for the electrical vehicle used various combinations of fuses, fuse links and circuit breakers. The main mounting block is installed in the engine compartment, another assembly block of the relay and fuse box is placed in the interior of the vehicle under the dashboard.

To protect the contact for the electrical vehicle used various combinations of fuses, fuse links and circuit breakers, most of which are concentrated in two mounting blocks (see. Specifications).

Each individual fuse used to protect a specific electric circuit or several circuits. Label with identification card placing fuses in the mounting block is usually glued to the cover of the latter, with its inner side.

The mounting blocks are placed fuses compact design, equipped with bayonet contact terminals, and if necessary, easily recoverable fingers out of their sockets in the block. In case of refusal of any of the consumers of electricity in the first place you should always check the state of the corresponding fuse. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and with the help of a lamp-sampler prozondiruyte open terminals of each of the fuses. If the lamp lights up when connected to each terminal, therefore, the fuse is OK. If the voltage occurs only from the power supply, then the fuse is blown. Note also that usually the fuse is made of transparent plastic through which to easily determine the status of the working bridge.

Fact burnout contact bridge of the failed fuse easily detected by visual inspection of its translucent body

When replacing a blown fuse is strictly take care to set the replacement match the type withdrawn from the element. Designed for various nominal amperage fuse can physically no different from each other, without being interchangeable. Each of the electrical circuits have different operating parameters and requires varying degrees of protection, so replacing the fuse (calculated at a certain amperage) is not relevant to it in the parameters is fraught with the most serious consequences (up to a fire). The operating parameters of the fuse (rated current) is usually indicated by its plastic housing.

If the new fuse immediately after installation also fails, it makes no sense to produce its further replacement - should first identify and eliminate the cause of the overload circuit. In most cases, such a short-circuit is the connecting wiring, it causes damage to the insulation.
