Removal and installation of the steering shaft



Remove the wire from the negative terminal of the battery. Wait 10 minutes, then remove the airbag module (see. "Body"). Install the front wheels straight. Loosen the nut of the steering wheel and remove it with the help of a stripper, marking its position on the steering shaft. Release the protective cover on the floor of the body. Unscrewing the screw, remove both halves of the cowling of a steering shaft. Remove the steering column control. Disconnect the ignition switch connector contacts. Remove the protective cover of a steering shaft. Remove the bolt of the universal joint connecting the steering shaft with the pinion gear. Remove the nut bracket tube steering shaft and remove the pipe from the steering shaft assembly.
Installation spend in reverse order, with the following.
Before connecting the battery terminals, make sure that the cabin there are no people - possibly triggering airbags.

Check the length of the steering shaft

Make sure that the length of the shaft and the steering control is within the range 533-535 mm (Fig. 6.2), otherwise replace the shaft.
Make sure that the straight running of a vehicle steering wheel spokes are arranged horizontally, and the number of turns of the steering wheel from the middle position to both sides equally.
