Exhaust

The exhaust system on vehicles with engines of PF and PB
Fig. 5.75. The exhaust system on vehicles with engines of PF and PB 1 - thermofilter; 2 - a nut; 3 - a reception exhaust pipe; 4 - O-ring; 5 - the exhaust manifold; 6 - a nut; 7 - coupling; 8 - pipe measurement of CO; 9 - the plug; 10 - a reception exhaust pipe (PB); 11 - a nut; 12 - lambda sensor; 13 - a sealing ring; 14 - the catalytic converter (RF); 15 - Front silencer; 16 - crimp sleeve; 17 - Suspension; 18 - a bolt; 19 - the distance b = 9-11 mm; 20 - rear silencer; 21 - MARKING (S - manual gearbox
A - automatic transmission); 22 - distance a = 5 mm; 23 - Middle Silencer

The exhaust system on vehicles with engines of KR and 9A

A - automatic transmission); 9 - a = 5 mm; 10 - Suspension; 11 - rear silencer; 12 - Middle Silencer; 13 - thermofilter

The exhaust system on vehicles with engines with a catalyst 9A
Fig. 5.78. The exhaust system on vehicles with engines with a catalyst 9A: 1 - consolidation; 2 - a nut; 3 - the exhaust manifold; 4 - connecting sleeve; 5 - tube measurement of CO; 6 - the plug; 7, 20 - a nut; 8 - a reception exhaust pipe; 9 - lambda sensor; 10 - a sealing ring; 11 - the catalytic converter; 12 - crimp sleeve; 13 - Front silencer; 14 - MARKING (S - manual gearbox, A - automatic forehand); 15 - a = 5 mm; 16 - Suspension; 17 - rear silencer; 18 - Middle Silencer; 19 - thermofilter

The exhaust system (Fig. 5.75, 5.76, 5.77, 5.78) should be checked regularly for damage, burnouts, leaks, integrity and reliability of fasteners, etc.
Before removing or disassembling the exhaust system is necessary to moisten all the places all pipe joints and fasteners liquid solvent karroozii products, such as WD-40.
Before performing any work on the exhaust system wait until it cooled elements.
Check the system for leaks as follows:
- Start the engine;
- After assistant briefly close the exhaust pipe with a cloth, carefully inspect the system on all sides;
- If one of the compounds of welds or system elements are located exhaust gases - neohodim repair the damaged area.
On vehicles with engine RP to disconnect the exhaust system must be at the junction with the collector a reception exhaust pipe. Except vehicles with RP, easier to remove from the vehicle exhaust system completely and then divide into parts or cut off the defective part of the jigsaw. On cars with Lambda sensor, when removing the exhaust system, disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.
The installation of the exhaust system, start with the front.
Removing and installing exhaust manifold in the following order:
- Remove the intake manifold;
- Unscrew and remove the mounting intake of heated air from the exhaust manifold;
- Remove thermofilters;
- Lift the front of the car and fix it firmly on supports;
- Underneath the car, disconnect a reception exhaust pipe from a flange of the reservoir;
- On all vehicles except for cars with engine RP: flange attached nuts 11 (see. Fig. 5.75) and pins;
- Unscrew the nuts and disconnect a reception exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold 3 3;
- Remove the spacer 2;

The exhaust system on vehicles with engines of RP
Fig. 5.76. The exhaust system on vehicles with engines of RP: 1 - a lining; 2 - the exhaust manifold; 3 - a nut; 4 - connecting sleeve; 5 - tube measurement of CO; 6 - the plug; 7 - lambda sensor; 8 - mounting bracket; 9 - crimp sleeve; 10 - MARKING (S - manual gearbox, A - automatic transmission); 11 - a bolt; 12 - the distance a = 5 mm; 13 - a reception exhaust pipe; 14 - a sealing ring; 15 - the catalytic converter; 16 - a nut; 17 - intermediate pipe; 18 - Suspension; 19 - Middle Silencer; 20 - rear silencer; 21 - mounting bracket; 22 - b = 9 - 11 mm; 23 - marking the place; 24 - thermofilter; 25 - a sealing ring

- For vehicles with engine RP: Connect the exhaust manifold 2 (see. Fig. 5.76) with a reception exhaust pipe 13 by two rigid braces 8;
- For a release each clip you want to use a special tool VW 4140A / 2, which is a wedge-shaped plate (it can be easy to make your own). After installing the wedge plate in the bracket to move the exhaust pipe wedged bracket to reduce the gap in the joint and remove the bracket. Note that the brackets are fixed in position on the bearing surfaces of the flanges;
- Lower the reception exhaust pipe 13, and remove the O-ring 25;
- Unscrew the nuts and bolts of the exhaust manifold 2;
- Disconnect the manifold and gasket 1 from the cylinder head.
Installation spend to sequences of return to removal. Use new gaskets and new self-locking nuts. If necessary, replace the O-ring 14 on the engine RP.
