Replacing the front brake pads to the caliper Lucas



The subsection provides information on the replacement of front brake pads to the caliper Lucas, mounted on a vehicle up to 80 kW (109 hp..).

Front brake firm Lucas
1 - the brake hose,
2 - clip
3 - the brake pipe 15 Nm
4 - Self-locking bolt, 30 Nm
5 - a bolt, 12 Nm
6 - the holder of the caliper guide pins and protective covers,
7 - the brake disc,
8 - the brake pads,
9 - heat protection plate,
10 - support,
11 - an arm,
12 - a bolt, 10 Nm


A warning

When installing the bolt 4 is necessary to use a new bolt. When unscrewing the bolt is necessary to keep from turning the guide pin.

Before installation of the bolt 5 must be cleaned ribbed surface at the base of the bolt head.

The bracket 11 is bolted to a support.

When installing the brake pads need to use the new guide pin bolt.


Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the bolt of the lower guide pin. At the same time to hold the guide pin from turning, use a thin wrench. To fix the guide pin only use a new bolt.
2. Turn the support upwards on the top directing finger and tie it to the rack with a soft wire.
3. If the state of brake linings allowing their continued operation, clean them using a clean wire brush and rags.
4. Before installing the pad, make sure that the guide fingers move freely in a support bracket, and check that the rubber protective covers of the guide pin is not damaged. Clean dust and dirt from the caliper and the piston. Check the condition of the dust seal around the piston. Using a wire brush, clean the brake disc from the traces of rust.
5. If will be established new brake Pads, press the piston in the caliper. This can be done using a special tool or a hammer handle. It is particularly careful that the piston has not warped also surfaces of the piston and the boot are not damaged. When retracted, the piston brake liquid is superseded from the brake cylinder in a broad tank, so constantly observe of liquid level in the tank and, if necessary, evacuate it. If you install the old brake pads put them back into their original positions.
6. Check that the heat protection plate is properly inserted in the recess of the piston.
7. Insert the inner and outer brake pads in the caliper bracket.
8. Lower the caliper on the brake pads, click on the slide, so he took his position, then tighten the guide pin bolt, tightening it to a torque of 30 Nm.
9. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. It should not exceed the level of max. Repeatedly press the brake pedal to the brake pads pressed against the disk and re-check the brake fluid in the reservoir
10. Similarly replace brake pads on the second front wheel.
11. Establish wheels and lower the car.
12. Re-check the brake fluid level.
13. After installing new brake pads must be earned extra. For the first 200 km of run it is not recommended to produce the maximum braking.
