Piston and connecting rod

Piston and connecting rod
Fig. 2.285. Piston and connecting rod: 1 - the piston rings; 2 - piston; 3 - the piston pin; 4 - a lock ring; 5 - rod; 6 - bearing; 7 - the cylinder block; 8 - a cover of a rod; 9 - Oil injection nozzle; 10 - a bolt 25 Nm; 11 - a bolt of the connecting rod 30 Nm + to tighten on 1/4. (90 ?)

NOTE
To carry out installation work is necessary to fix the engine with a lock for the engine and gearbox on the bench, or on a retainer for the engine and gearbox.
All support and work surfaces should be lubricated before installation works with engine oil.

Checking the thermal gap of piston rings

Checking the thermal gap
Fig. 2.156. Checking the thermal gap

Will drive the piston ring from the top, at right angles to the cylinder wall to the bottom of the cylinder bore at a distance of about 15 mm from its end (Fig. 2.156).

Checking piston ring gap height
Before checking, clean the annular groove.

Check the diameter of the cylinder

Driving test bore
Fig. 2.159. Driving test bore

Measure the three places a cross A cross and longitudinal distance B (Fig. 2.159). The maximum permissible deviation from the nominal size - max. 0.10 mm.

NOTE
It is prohibited to measure the diameters of the cylinder when the cylinder block is secured to a support stand for mounting the engine as possible in this case an incorrect result.

Mounting position and belonging to the piston cylinders

Mounting position and belonging to the piston cylinders
Fig. 2.286. Mounting position and belonging to the piston cylinders

The arrows in Figure 2.286 show the direction of the first cylinder (Fig. 2.286).

Dimensions of pistons and cylinders

Checking piston projection at TDC

Checking piston projection at TDC
Fig. 2.287. Checking piston projection at TDC

When installing new pistons or a new component of the engine, check the position of the piston at top dead center. Depending on the piston projection, install the appropriate cylinder head gasket in accordance with the following table

NOTE
For measurements of the position of the pistons at top dead center crankshaft rotates clockwise.
If the measurement of piston projection were obtained different values for compatibility with the seal, use the largest size.

Marking cylinder head gasket

Marking cylinder head gasket
Fig. 2.288. Marking cylinder head gasket

Catalog number of parts - 1.
Control Code - 2 (contains important information).
Openings - 3.
Mounting position: marking up.

NOTE
The thickness of the installed cylinder head gasket depends on the piston projection. When replacing the gasket should be installed with an identical label 3.
