Adjusting the tension of the V-belt power steering pump

Adjust the belt tension power steering pump on the four-cylinder engine
Fig. 270. Adjusting the tension of the drive belt power steering pump on the four-cylinder engine 1 and 4 - a nut; 2 - a bolt; 3 - a lock bolt; A - a special tool (1410 and 1410/2)

If you press a finger into the center of the belt, the belt must be forced by approximately 5 mm. To adjust the belt four-cylinder engine uses a special tool - head on the torque wrench (Fig. 270). In the absence of special tools, use the hex head (22 mm) with a torque wrench.
Replace the front part of the car on supports:
- Loosen the nuts 1 and 4 (see. Fig. 270);

Bracket power steering pump
Fig. 271. Bracket power steering pump: 1 - a bolt, 25 Nm; 2 - a bolt, 25 Nm; 3 - bolt 25 Nm; 4 - Suspension bracket of the pump; 5 - an arm of the suspension; 6 - bolt 25 Nm; 7 - an adjusting bracket; 8 - an adjusting bolt; 9 - pin (only for petrol engines)

- Loosen the lock bolt 3 adjusting bolt belt tension (in Fig. 271 at No. 8);
- Tighten the nut 3 torque 4 Nm, if the belt is not new. For a new belt tightening torque should be 7 Nm. Hold the nut in this position, tighten the clamp bolt to 25 N ? m;

Note
If you do not have a torque wrench, tighten the nut so that the belt is pressed for about 5 mm. Hold the nut in this position, tighten the locking screw.

- Tighten the bolt 1 to 45 Nm, the bolts 2 and 4 to 25 Nm;
- Take a test drive on the car and check the belt tension again.
