Removing and installing power steering pump
Power steering pump should be removed in the course of different jobs in order to gain access to other parts in the engine. Location power steering pump is different to the four-cylinder engine and the engine VR6, so the work described separately. The vehicle must be lifted and mounted on the support in order to make it easier to reach the individual parts. When removing the power steering pump spilled a small amount of hydraulic fluid. Removing and installing power steering pump in a car with four-cylinder engine Figure 272 shows the location of the power steering pump. At its dismantling remember where the bolts have been installed in various lengths. When installing the pump, follow the following instructions: - Systematically replace the O-rings; - Never again fill the hydraulic system with hydraulic fluid leaked when removing the power steering pump; - The bearing surface the power steering pump and the thread must be clean; - Fill the power steering pump fluid recommended. Turn the pump a few times to evenly distribute the oil inside it;

- Put the power steering pump 1 (Fig. 273), defined on the pivot bolts 3 2 mounting bracket. Tighten the screws 4. Replace the power steering pump pulley and tighten the bolts to torque tightening;

- Set the bracket 1 (Fig. 274) and the pump 2 by means of eccentric bolts 3 on the holder 4. Screw the eccentric bolt 3 in swivel bracket 1 so that the threaded bushing holder concerned 4. Do not tighten the bolt. Tighten, but do not tighten the bolt 5;

- Attach the holder to the pump and swivel bracket to the bracket 5 (see. Fig. 271) and the cylinder block. Tighten the screws a few turns 1, 2 and 3, and then tighten the moment 25 Nm; - Attach the adjusting bracket 7 6 bolts to the engine block. Set the adjusting screw 8 in the rotary bracket. Tighten the screws 6 to 25 Nm; - Install V-belt and pull it; - After installing power steering pump, check the hydraulic fluid level in the receiver (see. P. 12.3.1). After starting the engine liquid level should not drop. Removing and installing power steering pump on the VR6 engine Mounted on the VR6 engine power steering pump and a method of mounting is shown in Figure 275. For dismantling remove ribbed belt (see. Sect. 5.7). Procedure: - Turn off the AB; - Set the front of the vehicle on a support; - Remove ribbed belt; - Unscrew the banjo bolt 12 discharge pipe and remove the two O-rings 11; - Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the vacuum pipe hose from the power steering pump; - Fix the pulley power steering pump in a fixed position and remove a pulley;

- Remove the bolts of the pump (Fig. 276) and remove the pump; - Fill the power steering pump fluid recommended. Turn the pump a few times to evenly distribute the oil inside it; - Tighten the three screws on the right side and two on the left side (see. Fig. 276). Tightening torque 25 Nm; - Put on a pulley, lock it in a fixed position and tighten the three screws with internal hex head to 25 Nm;

- Loosen the belt tensioning pressure device (Fig. 277), put the belt on the pulley and remove the bolt;

Fixing the power steering pump on the engine VR6: 1 - screws with hexagon socket, 25 Nm; 2 - a bolt with hexagon socket, 30 mm long, 25 Nm; 3 - a bolt with hexagon socket, 20 mm long, 25 Nm; 4 - washer; 5 - a bolt with hexagon socket, 38 mm long, 25 Nm; 6 - screws with hexagon socket, 30 mm long, 25 Nm; 7 - an arm; 8 - a pulley; 9 - hose clamp; 10 - the power steering pump; 11 - a sealing ring; 12 - a hollow bolt; 13 - a hose
- Attach the hose to the pump (see. Fig. 275). Tighten hollow bolt 12 with the new O-ring (tightening torque 30 Nm). Put the hose 13 on the union and put a collar on him 9; - Other work is carried out in sequence, return to removal process. Fill the power steering hydraulic fluid and remove air from the system (Sec. 12.3.1). Take a test drive at a low speed and check the power steering.
