Disassembly and reassembly of the rear wheel brake

Details of the rear wheel brake
Fig. 324. Details of the brake mechanism of a back wheel 1 - the wheel bolts, 140 Nm; 2 - bolt 10 Nm; 3 - Disc; 4 - bracket (calliper); 5 - a bolt 110 Nm; 6 - rubber sleeve; 7 - a directing finger; 8 - bolt 35 Nm; 9 - brake master cylinder assembly with a caliper; 10 - the brake pads

The design of the rear wheel brake mechanism is shown in (Fig. 324).
Disassembly of the brake mechanism spend in the following order:
- Put the rear of the vehicle on the support and remove the rear wheels;
- Release the parking brake. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake caliper;
- Remove the brake pads;
- If necessary, remove the brake hose from the wheel cylinder;
- Tighten the cylinder assembly with a caliper in a vice. Remove the parking brake cable holder;
- With a special key VW3272 remove the piston from the cylinder;

Removal of a sealing ring cylinder
Fig. 325. Removal of a sealing ring of the brake cylinder

- Gently with a screwdriver (Fig. 325), remove the O-ring from the housing of the brake cylinder. Not to damage the cylinder bore;
- Thoroughly clean and check all parts of the brake mechanism. If the cylinder and the piston are in good condition, use the repair kit for assembly. It is recommended that the O-ring of the cylinder and dustproof ring replaced by new ones. Always make sure that the repair kit corresponded year of production.
The assembly of the rear wheel brake mechanism spend in reverse order, thus:
- Install new O-ring into the groove of the cylinder, after brushing his brake fluid;
- Apply graphite grease or lubricant "Ditor" on the surface of the piston;
- Wear a dust ring on the outer edge of the working piston and insert piston in the cylinder bore;

Installing the dust ring into the groove of the brake cylinder
Fig. 326. Installing the dust ring into the groove of the brake cylinder

- Using a screwdriver carefully press the inner lip of the dust ring into the groove of the cylinder (Fig. 326);
- With a special key VW3272 or steel strips, screw the piston in the brake cylinder. During screwing uniformly apply pressure to the piston. This outer working edge of a dustproof ring enters the groove of the piston, as will be in front of him;
- Apply to the bleed screw drive brake grease and wrap it;
- Remove the air from the brake cylinder. Why put on the bleed screw the hose and put it on the end of the brake fluid filled syringe. Fill the cylinder with brake fluid as long as it comes out through the connection of a brake hose;
- After the assembly and installation of the brake mechanism to restore the level of liquid in a tank and pump over hydraulic drive system.
