Ribbed Belts



Ribbed belt must be removed to access the coolant pump, generator or the crankshaft pulley.

To loosen the tension of the V-ribbed belt, turn tensioner roller in the direction of the arrow

Place a wrench on the nut of the tension wheel and turn the key in such a way to ease the tension on the serpentine belt (Fig. 469). Remove ribbed belt.
Inspect poly V-belt: it must not be damaged, cracked. Replace damaged. Reinstall the tension roller, as described, slide the V-ribbed belt, install the clip on V-ribbed belt. Ribs should coincide with the grooves, and the belt should be positioned in the center of the pulley.

A warning
Do not pull ribbed belt when installing a screwdriver or any lever on the pulley, so belt can immediately lose strength.
