The assembly of pistons and rods
To properly assemble the connecting rod to the piston and install the engine in position, use the previously applied markings. If you have replaced the piston, check that all the pistons are treated the same type. When assembling the piston and connecting rod follow these guidelines:
| Fig. 54. Marking the bottom of the pistons before their removal
|
- Arrow on the piston crown (either painted or embossed if new piston) must point in the direction of the front of the engine (see. Fig. 54);
| Fig. 56. Assembling the connecting rod and the connecting rod bearing caps. The arrows indicate the projections
|
- Cast lugs on the connecting rod and connecting rod cap (see. Fig. 56) must point in the direction of the crankshaft sprocket;
| Fig. 55. Marking of the connecting rod and the connecting rod bearing cap
|
- Marking cylinder number (see. Fig. 55) must be the same for the connecting rod and connecting rod cap. The assembly of pistons and rods performed as follows: - Heat the piston to a temperature of 60 ? C (for that place them in hot water) and pick up the mandrel, which enters the piston pin; - Heating rod; - By hand with the help of the plug insert piston pin into the piston and connecting rod heated;
| Fig. 65. Check the smooth running of the connecting rod
|
- Check that the rod after assembly moves freely back and forth (Fig. 65); - Lubricate the engine oil groove on the piston and piston rings with special tool (see. Fig. 65) set in the piston ring grooves. If the ring is marked ?Oben? or "Thor", the ring sets the mark up (to the bottom of the piston).
