7/15 Oxygen sensor (Fig. 9.1) is mounted on the front exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter. Provided with an electric heating system is used to measure the oxygen content in the exhaust gas, which allows to determine the level of BU desired enrichment or depletion of the fuel mixture.
Plate sensor comprises two resistors, one acts as the heating element, the other represents a oxygen sensor based on titanium dioxide. At one end of the heating element is energized; second output is used to regulate the temperature of BU by binding to a specific frequency of the heating element with "weight". The pulse duration determines the degree of heat. CU is programmed to maintain the temperature of the sensor plate 700 ?� C.
One terminal of the oxygen sensor is connected to "weight" in the CU, the second voltage is 5 V.
Running the engine at a lean mixture results in an increase in the oxygen content in the exhaust gases. Under these conditions, the sensor resistance is large and the input voltage is high (about 4.8 V) - due to increased resistance between the input voltage and "weight".
When the engine is enriched mixture of oxygen content in the exhaust gas with little or negligible; wherein the sensor resistance is small and the input voltage drops to approximately 0.7 V.
