Automatic transmission

Gear positions mode automatic transmission

Highly efficient automatic transmission Hyundai has four gears for forward and one reverse gear. It has the usual shift patterns shown in Figure 117. At night, in the first position of the multifunction switch on the shifting pattern will light corresponding to the selected gear range indicator.
A warning

While driving the car can not move the selector lever to position "P" or "R".

To move the selector to press the button while pressing the brake pedal.

To move the selector must click.

To move the selector push button is not necessary.

For maximum fuel economy, accelerate smoothly. An automatic transmission will automatically turn on the second, third and upshift.

PURPOSE selector position

"P" - Parking

Use this position for holding the vehicle in place while parking or starting. When parking, apply the parking brake and move the selector lever to position "P" (Park).

A warning

Do not move the lever to position "P" (Park) while the vehicle is completely stopped. Failure to do so may damage the automatic transmission.

"R" - Reverse:

Use this position to reverse. Translate the selector lever to "R" (Reverse) only when the vehicle is stationary.

"N" - neutral position:

In this position selector automatic transmission is disabled. In this position, you can start the engine, but this is not recommended unless the engine stalls while the vehicle is moving.

"D" - "Movement", the main transmission:

This is the selector lever of an automatic transmission is essential for movement. An automatic transmission will automatically include one of the four programs, providing better efficiency and power. If the vehicle speed exceeds 95 km / h, never move the lever to position "2" (the second transmission) or "L" (Creep speed).

"2" - Second gear:

Use this for driving on a slippery road, climbing steep grades and for engine braking when descending a steep slope. In this position, the selector automatically switches between the 1st and 2nd gears. This means that there is no shifting to 3rd gear. However, if the vehicle speed exceeds a certain value, it switches to 3rd gear in order to prevent excessive engine acceleration. Translation lever in "D" ("Motion") returns a normal gearshift.

"L" - Creep speed:

This is the selector lever of an automatic transmission is the main motion on very steep slopes and engine braking at low speeds when descending steep slopes. When the downshift "L", transmission will temporarily remain in the range of second gear as the car did not slow down to the speed where it will be possible downshift "L". When driving mode "L" - ("Creep speed") do not exceed a speed of 50 km / h.

A warning

For smooth and safe gear changes, the translation of the selector from position "N" or "P" before switching gear, fully depress the brake pedal.
To translate the selector from position "N" or "P" to another position, you must fully depress the brake pedal.
You can always transfer the selector from position "R", "N", "D", "2", "L" to "F".
Move the lever to position "P" or "R" only after the vehicle is stopped.
Do not increase the engine speed of the engine when the selector is in the reverse gear or one of the provisions of the motion when the brake pedal depressed.
While translating the selector from position "N" or "P" position to another position "R", "D", "2" or "L" is always depress the brake pedal.
Do not use the "F" instead of the parking brake. Always set the parking brake, move the lever to position "P" and turn the ignition key when you leave the car, even for a second. Do not leave the vehicle unattended when the engine is running.
Regularly check the fluid level in automatic transmission and add fluid if necessary.

Receptions correct driving

Do not move the lever from position "N" or "P" to another position
when the accelerator pedal is depressed.

While driving the car can not move the selector lever to position "P".

Before you transfer the selector lever to position "P", make sure the vehicle is completely stopped.
Do not roll downhill in neutral gear. It is very dangerous. Always keep the transmission enabled while driving.

Avoid driving style with frequent heavy braking, and do not hold your left foot on the brake pedal continuously while driving. This leads to overheating and loss of braking effectiveness.
On the downhill to prevent overheating of the brakes should be applied engine braking (including downshifts).

When the downshift, slightly slow down the car. Otherwise, reduced transmission may not start.

Always use the parking brake. Do not rely on the translation of the selector to the "P" in order to prevent movement of the car.

Be especially careful when driving on a slippery road during braking, acceleration and gear changes. On a slippery surface, a sharp change in vehicle speed can cause you to lose traction with the road, and loss of vehicle control.

Turn on overdrive to ensure good fuel economy and ride. If necessary, the engine braking range "D" or, if necessary, repeated switching between 3rd and 4th gear during the climb on a small slope, it is recommended to turn off overdrive. After that, turn on the overdrive.

A warning

If you lose control of the vehicle at high speeds significantly increases the risk of rollover.
Loss of control often occurs when two or more wheels and off the track of the road, and the driver is trying to return the car back on the track of the road.
If your car ran off the track of the road, avoid sudden steering. Instead, slow down the vehicle before re-enter the road.

When the switch overdrive gearbox will automatically turn on the second, third and increases transmission. When the overdrive switch is in the "OFF" (Off.), Overdrive is not included. Under normal conditions, the movement of the selector must be in position "D", and the switch of raising transfer must be enabled. If you need to make a sharp acceleration, depress the accelerator pedal all the way. Transmission will automatically include a lower gear, depending on vehicle speed and load.
