Drive shaft with SHRUS ball and Birfield type

Dismantling
A warning

Do not disassemble SHRUS type Birfield.
For lubrication of constant velocity joints, use only special grease.
When assembling SHRUS necessary to establish new collars.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the clamps and pull the protective cover from the ball SHRUS drive shaft.

A warning

Be careful not to damage the protective cover.


2. The flat-blade screwdriver, remove the retaining ring.
3. Remove the ball from the drive shaft CV joint.
4. Remove the snap ring, remove the inner ring, balls and body assembly.
5. Without disassembly, clean the inner ring, case and balls.
6. Remove the clamps and pull protective covers and the ball SHRUS SHRUS Birfield.

A warning

If the dust cover is to be reused before removing the cover for its protection, wrap the drive shaft splines with tape.



Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check the ball constant velocity joints for signs of rust, damage to the outer ring, the inner ring and balls.
2. Check the condition of the drive shaft splines.
3. Check for signs of rust, water and foreign objects in the boot band Birfield.

A warning

In SHRUS Birfield can only replace the grease.



Assembly

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before installing the cover wrap to protect the drive shaft splines from the ball joint with adhesive tape.
2. Grease the drive shaft and install the cover.

Grease SHRUS Birfield: MS511-50
Grease ball SHRUS: MS511-50

3. To set the dynamic damper position SHRUS Birfield in a straight line relative to the shaft, the damper position at a distance of 301 ?� 2 mm and secure it with a clamp.
4. Grease the inner ring and the housing. Install the housing so that the offset to the rolling surface was located as shown in the figure.

A warning

Use the lubricant supplied with the repair kit.


5. Lubricate the casing and the balls disposed in the housing.
6. Install the hinge, as shown in the illustration, and secure it with retaining ring.
7. Put 45 ?� 5 g of grease in the outer ring and install it on the drive shaft.
8. Include a 30 ?� 10 g grease protective cover and set the cover on the hinge.

Protective cover ball joint
The total amount of grease: 75 ?� 15 g
Hinge: 45 ?� 3 g
Protective cover 30 ?� 10 g).

9. Attach the protective cover clips.
10. Add the SHRUS Birfield much grease as it was wiped out during the inspection of the hinge.
11. Install the covers.
12. Secure the protective cover SHRUS Birfield collars.
13. Fix the covers so that the length of the drive shaft correspond to the desired value.

The length of the left drive shaft:
With a manual transmission: 626,2 ?� 2 mm
With automatic transmission: 644,9 ?� 2 mm
The length of the right drive shaft:
With a manual transmission: 933,2 ?� 2 mm
With automatic transmission: 933,9 ?� 2 mm
