Removal, check of a condition and installation of the rockers and bars of pushers

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the cylinder head cover (Section Removal and installation of the cylinder head covers).
  2. Give bolts of the rocker arm and remove their spherical bearings. The removed components spread out on a workbench in an organized manner or fold into labeled bags / boxes for proper installation of the assembly.
  3. Remove the pushrods and put them in an organized manner (see. Illustration below) to ensure installation of the assembly into place.

Each component of the valve mechanism in the assembly should be set at its original location, so all of them should be put after the removal in an organized manner.

  1. Bumper best after removing the stick into the holes specially made cardboard template that ensures correct fitting during assembly - pay attention to the arrow indicating the direction of forward on the engine.

Checking the Status

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check each of the rocker arms for signs of wear, cracks and other damage, paying particular attention to areas in contact with the push rod and valve stems.

Keep in mind that these engines need and the ability to adjust the valve is not so heavy wear valve train components can easily lead to excessive valve clearance, which in turn will lead to a knock when the engine valves.

  1. Make sure that the oil supplying holes in the cross-bar of each of the plungers is not broken, which ensures adequate lubrication of the rocker arm.
  2. Check pushrods for cracks or signs of excessive wear of the ends. Roll the bar for every large fragments of window glass, checking if they are not bent. In case of defects, replace the rod.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Turn the engine so that the label on the V8 damper aligned with TDC on the lid of the electrical circuit, which corresponds to the position of the piston of the first cylinder at 17.5 ? after TDC.
  1. Before installation of the pushrods and rocker bars turn the engine so that the mark ?V8? on a damper aligned with TDC on the lid.
  1. Grease the bottom ends of the bars of pushers clean motor oil or molybdenum-containing lubricant and install rods on the former places. Make sure that the bar is completely caught in the slot in the pusher.
  2. Lubricate the valve stem ends and the upper ends of the bars of pushers molybdenum-containing lubricant, then set the rocker on the studs on the engine.
  3. Install the assembly of spherical bearings and bolts rocker. Tighten bolts with demanded effort.

Do not crank the engine for at least 5 minutes after installing the bars of pushers and rocker - roller-type hydraulic lifters should "settle."

  1. Replace the cylinder head cover (Section Removal and installation of the cylinder head covers). Start the engine, listen to it in the presence of background noise emitted by the valve mechanism and check for leaks in the area of joints with head covers.

Do not increase the engine speed up turns of fast idling to fill the oil pushers, after which they must once again begin to work silently.
