Thermostat

A warning

The engine must be completely cool.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check the coolant level, check the belt tension and the functioning of the temperature sensor.
2. If the engine is warming up too long, it is likely that the thermostat is stuck in the open position. Replace the thermostat.
3. If the engine overheats, check the temperature of the upper radiator hose if the hose is not hot, so the thermostat is stuck in the closed position. Replace the thermostat.
4. To conduct a more thorough check is necessary to remove the thermostat from the engine.
5. If the thermostat is not closed at room temperature, then it is defective and should be replaced.
6. Lower the thermostat in a container of cold water (thermostat closed).
7. Heat the water in the tank and watch its temperature. The thermostat should not touch the sides and bottom of the container.
8. Record the thermometer when the thermostat only starts to open and when it is fully open. Compare the values with the specifications.
9. Replace the thermostat if it does not open or closed or jammed in any position.
