Glow plugs

To check the current consumption of the individual glow plugs in the garage used DC ammeter. Clamp clamped on the corresponding insulated wire and the current value measured by induction.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Clamp if any, on the individual pinch wires going to the glow plugs, turn the ignition to warm up (the engine is cold) and measure current consumption. Placement of the wires: a cylinder 1 = black and blue; Cylinder 2 = black and purple; Cylinder 3 = black and red; Cylinder 4 = black and yellow; Cylinder 5 = black and green.
2. The engine capacity of 2.0 liters: after about 8 seconds, the current consumption of each glow plug should be about 14-16 A.
3. The engine capacity of 2.2 / 2.5 L: after about 10-20 seconds, the current consumption of each glow plug short-term should be about 8-15 A.
4. If the measured value exceeds the upper set point, replace the corresponding spark plugs.
5. If the measured value is below the lower setpoint glow plugs, check for an open in the conductive line.
6. If there is no current clamp, turn the ignition to warm up (the engine is cold) and connect a test lamp between the plug and glow plug engine block. Pilot light must be flashing, otherwise check for an open lead wire to the spark plugs and, accordingly, replace it.
7. Turn off the ignition.
8. Check the spark plug for the passage of electric current. To do this, remove the spark plug for G1-G4 (G5) on the relay control heating.
9. Measure one after the other ohmmeter resistance between chips on the plug and the housing (engine block). If the resistance tends to infinity (∞), there is a break in the glow plug or current supply line.
A warning

The relays mounted heating electronic protection against short circuit. If a short circuit in the glow plugs or electrical wiring circuit is broken. Relays can function again when the short circuit is eliminated, or if the ignition key is turned back to "0".

2.0l

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the inlet pipeline.
2. Remove the nut for the electric line.

A warning

Some models of the nut is inserted as an integral accessory cable shoe line.

3. Remove the glow plug flexible socket spanner SW 12.

ENGINE 2.2 / 2.5 L

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the plug (arrow) with a candle bulbs.
2. Remove the glow plug (R9) socket spanner SW 12.

Glow plugs with pin-burned

Overheated pins glow plugs are often caused by the fault of nozzles that are not caused by deficiencies in or on the spark plugs.

If you found this kind of glow, it is not enough to replace them. It is also necessary to make check on the formation of a jet injector fuel injection, vibration, pressure, and tightness (work for the garage).

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Screw the glow plug with a torque of 20 Nm
2. Screw the electrical line together with the nut with 4 Nm therefore manually respectively, with a plug.
3. The engine capacity of 2.0 liters: remove the inlet pipeline.
4. The engine capacity of 2.2 / 2.5 L: remove the lateral pipe of the air filter.
