Starting from the auxiliary battery

A warning

If not accurately follow the prescribed recommendations for connection, there is a risk of burns due to spilled electrolyte, which is based on sulfuric acid. In addition, you can get an injury or injuries due to the explosion of the battery, or may be a fault in the electrical system.

The cross section of wire for connection to an auxiliary starter battery must be at least 16 square meters. mm (diameter about 5 mm) for internal combustion engines with spark ignition positive working mixture until the cylinder volume of 2.5 l. On engines with a cylinder capacity of more than 2.5 liters of diesel and a cross-section of the wire must be at least 25 square meters. mm. This is the defining, of course, the car with the discharged battery. Typically, the cross section of the wire is indicated on the packaging. It is recommended to purchase this wire with insulated pliers and a cross-section of 25 square meters. mm, since it is suitable for engines with a relatively low displacement.

Both batteries must have a voltage of 12 volts.

A discharged battery can freeze at a temperature of -10 ? C before connecting wires to connect to the auxiliary starter (outside the car) battery frozen battery definitely thaw.

A discharged battery must be properly connected to the electric on-board network.

Check the fluid level in the battery is discharged. If necessary, add distilled water.

Set the cars at such a distance between them, between them there was no metal contact. Otherwise, even when connecting the positive pole of a current can flow.

Each of the two cars pull up the hand lever parking brake. Install speed gearbox in neutral position, and in the case of an automatic transmission - in the park position "P".

Turn off all power consumers.

Be sure to drive the auxiliary vehicle must work during the process of starting a car with a basic speed idling. This eliminates the possibility of damage to the generator because of the voltage peaks occurring during starting.

During start-up, avoid the appearance of flames and burning cigarettes near the battery, because it can be released from the combustion gases.

Pay attention to the fact that the wires for connecting the starter to the auxiliary battery can not be damaged by the rotating parts, such as the cooling fan motor.

Connect the wires for connecting the starter to the auxiliary battery as follows:

1. Connect the red wire to the positive pole terminal of the discharged battery (A).

2. Connect the other end of the red wire to the positive terminal of the pole gives current of the battery (B).

3. Black wire to the negative pole terminal of the battery gives talk.

4. The other end of the black wire to a good point of the shell (A) of the receiving vehicle. It is best suited for this metal piece, bolted to the engine block. Under unfavorable circumstances: when you connect the wire to the negative terminal of discharged battery, the latter may explode due to sparking and allocation of detonating gas.

A warning

Terminals wires for connecting the starter to the auxiliary battery from the connected wires should not contact each other or the positive terminal does not come into contact with the body (body or frame).

Start the engine and leave the work of the receiving vehicle (battery is low). When running continuously press the starter no longer than 10 seconds, because of the high current consumption of hot pliers poles and wires. So sometimes expose "pause cooling" at least half a minute.

Do not lean over the batteries - there is a risk of injury!

After starting the engine, disconnect the clamps from the terminals in the reverse order: first disconnect from the terminal black wire (-) on the receiving vehicle, and then - on the supply current of the vehicle, first disconnect from the plug the red wire on the supply current of the car, and then - on the receiving vehicle.
