Ignition system

The ignition system of gasoline engines no moving, wearable parts, so its service life and reliability are significant. To improve the motor starting ignition spark on a cold engine is produced several times during the working cycle. In the memory of the electronic unit incorporated ignition characteristics, whereby the determined optimum ignition timing. In the 4-cylinder engine has one, and 8-cylinder - two knock sensor. At the start of the knock control unit sends a signal to change the ignition timing towards "delay." As a result, the engines without knock component life increases significantly.
Removing and installing ignition coils
4- and 6-cylinder in-line engines
SEQUENCE OF WORK
Withdrawal
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Remove the cross tube of the air filter.

Remove the spark plug cover
Fig. 5.38. Remove the spark plug cover: 1 - a cover; 2, 3 - pin connector

3. Remove the cover 1 (Fig. 5.38) spark plugs.

NOTE
Figure corresponds to a 6-cylinder engine.

4. Disconnect the ignition coil 3 connectors.

Ignition coil

5. Disconnect connectors 2 high voltage cables.

NOTE
In Fig. 5.39 connector 3 4 ignition coils connected to the spark plug. Slot 1 is connected to the spark plug by means of high voltage wires. The guide pin 2 connects the ignition coil with "weight".

In Fig. 5.40 shows a connection diagram ignition coil to the spark plugs for 6-cylinder in-line engine.

6. Remove the ignition coil upwards.
Setting
7. Replace the ignition coil on the former location and connect the wires according to the figure. 5.40.
8. Replace the spark plug cover.
9. Install the cross tube of the air filter.

The V6 engine
SEQUENCE OF WORK
Withdrawal
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Remove the air flow sensor with inlet pipe.

Removing the ignition coil on the V6 engine
Fig. 5.41. Removing the ignition coil on the engine V6: 1, 3 - pin connector; 2 - the screw; 4 - mounting position; 5 - the ignition coil; 6 - Spark Plug

Disconnect from the coil 5 (Fig. 5.41) plug two pin high voltage.

NOTE
Note the four mounting position indicated on the ignition coil and the engine. Spark plug has the mark, as per cylinder - two spark plugs. Pin "a" on the ignition coil must be connected to the tip of the "K" of the spark plug. Connector ?b? - with a tip ?G? of the spark plug.

4. Disconnect the ignition coil connector 3.
5. Remove the screw 2 and remove the ignition coil.
Setting
6. Set the ignition coil and tighten the screw 2.
7. Connect the connector 1.
8. Connect the ignition coil connectors 1.

A WARNING
Do not confuse the connectors, they are labeled. Connector "and" on the ignition coil is connected to the tip of the "K" of the spark plug connector ?b? - with a tip ?G? of the spark plug.

9. Replace the air flow sensor to the inlet pipe.

The V8 engine
SEQUENCE OF WORK
Withdrawal
1. Turn off the ignition.

Removing the ignition coil on the V8 engine
Fig. 5.42. Removing the ignition coil on the engine V8: 1 - a cover; 2 - part fixing; 3 - the ignition coil; 4 - spark plug

2. Unscrew and remove the cover 1 (Fig. 5.42) from the engine.
3. Remove the side of each ignition coil connectors.
4. Remove the bolts holding the part 2.
5. Remove upwards ignition coil 3 from spark plugs 4.
Setting
6. Set the ignition coil 3 to 4 spark plugs.
7. Tighten bolts 2 parts.
8. Connect to each coil connectors.
9. Attach the cover 1 on the engine.
