Fuel Injection System

Removing and installing fuel distributor (4- and 6-cylinder engine)
SEQUENCE OF WORK
Withdrawal
1. Turn off the ignition.

A WARNING
When working on the fuel system near there should be no open flame, hot, and hot objects. Do not smoke. Make sure a fire extinguisher. Work in a well-ventilated area because fuel vapors are poisonous. The fuel system is pressurized. When disconnecting its components may splash of fuel, so the work must wear safety goggles. The flowed out fuel required to collect the cloth.

2. Remove the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

A WARNING
This operation removes the codes entered into electronic storage devices, such as radio or radio code.

3. Remove the cross tube of the air filter.

Removal of the fuel distributor at the 4- and 6-cylinder engine
Fig. 5.43. Removal of the fuel distributor at the 4- and 6-cylinder in-line engines: 1 - crankcase ventilation hose; 2 - plug; 3 - the fuel distributor; 4 - a vacuum hose; 5 - O-ring; 6 - a fuel injector; 7, 12, 13 - a bolt; 8 - a nut; 9 - the fuel feed line; 10 - a collar; 11 - the fuel return line

4. Remove the hose 1 (Fig. 5.43) crankcase ventilation.

NOTE
Fig. 5.43 shows the engine of an earlier release.

5. Remove the vacuum hose 4.
6. Remove the bolts fastening clamps 12 of the fuel 11, and the nut 8 is not to fall down.
7. Disconnect the supply 9 and 11 return fuel. To do this, loosen the union nut and remove the banjo bolt 13.

A WARNING
The flowed out fuel assemble cloth.

8. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors (up arrow).
9. Remove the screws 7 and remove the sleeve 2.
10. Carefully remove the fuel distributor 3 of the intake manifold with the fuel injectors 6.
Setting
11. Install the 3 fuel distributor with new pads 5 on the intake manifold.
12. Insert and tighten the sleeve 2 bots fuel distributor.
13. Connect to the fuel injectors 6 connectors and fix them clips.
14. Tighten fuel lines with new O-rings.
15. Secure the clamps the fuel return line 11 to the fuel distributor.
16. Connect the hose 1 crankcase ventilation system.
17. Install the cross tube of the air filter.
18. Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
19. Set the clock.
20. Enter the code anti-theft system for radio.
21. Start up the engine, warm it up to operating temperature and check for leaks in the fuel lines the joints.

Removal and installation of the fuel injector (4- and 6-cylinder engine)

SEQUENCE OF WORK
Withdrawal
1. Remove the fuel rail with fuel injectors as described above.

Removal of the fuel injectors
Fig. 5.44. Removal of the fuel injector 1, 4 - O-rings; 2 - Rotary clamp; 3 - a fuel injector

2. Remove the fuel injectors 3 (Fig. 5.44) rotary clamps.
3. Remove the fuel injectors of the fuel distributor.
Setting
4. Before installing the O-rings 1 and 4, replace by new and lightly grease with engine oil.
5. Insert the fuel injectors in the fuel distributor.
6. Slide the rotary clamp 2 on the fuel injectors 3, so that they have entered into a tongue nozzle (arrow).
7. Install the fuel rail with fuel injectors to an intake manifold, as described above.

Checking the technical condition of the fuel injector

SEQUENCE OF WORK
1. Start the engine and let it run at idle speed.
2. With the engine running, check with a stethoscope operation of each nozzle on the presence of clicking sound. This sound is the result of the opening and closing valve injector nozzle.

A WARNING
If you do not have a stethoscope, you can feel the clicking of a screwdriver or your fingers.

3. If you can not find the characteristic sound and the engine works with faults, check the voltage of the power supplied to the nozzles, and leak resistance atomizers.
Check voltage and resistance
4. To test the power supply, disconnect the connectors and injectors between contacts set diode test lamp. Include a starter (requires an assistant), the light emitting diode should blink.
5. If the light emitting diode is not flashing, the fault may be a break in the electric circuit control unit.
6. To test the resistance of the nozzle, turn the ignition off and connect to both the nozzle contacts an ohmmeter. If resistance does not match the specified value, replace the nozzle.
Leak test
7. Remove the fuel injectors with fuel distributor, without disconnecting the fuel lines.
8. Connect to the injectors connectors.
9. Attach the nozzle in a suitable container.
10. Turn on the starter (requires the assistant). Compare jet injection nozzles. The jets must have a conical shape and be identical.
11. Switch off the ignition.
12. Disconnect the injector connectors.
13. Turn on the ignition for about 5 seconds, not including starter. Check the tightness of each injector: 1 min. from the nozzle of each injector must not leak more than one fuel droplets.
14. Install injector spend in the reverse snyatiyu.3. If you can not find the characteristic sound and the engine works with faults, check the voltage of the power supplied to the nozzles, and leak resistance atomizers.
