Removing and installing exhaust system



At 6-cylinder engine exhaust system double, double sections. However, the procedure works the same as in the conventional system. To replace individual components and parts, follow the instructions of the relevant sections. Take care of acquiring new fasteners, as well as the stock suspension and rubber gaskets. When installing the system components, pay attention to the density of connections.

SEQUENCE OF WORK
Withdrawal
1. Lift the car and firmly put on support.
2. Moisten the nuts and bolts of the exhaust system a special tool to remove the rust.
3. Remove the bottom casing of the engine and gearbox.
4. Remove the pin oxygen concentration sensor.
5. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

NOTE
Have an assistant that he supported the exhaust system.

Unscrew nuts 1 (fig. 5.56) of the front exhaust pipe mounting bracket and remove the screw plate.
6. Remove the rubber parts of the suspension and lower the exhaust system to collect on the floor.
Setting
7. Check the technical condition of all parts of the exhaust system.
8. Clean the connections against corrosion and fouling.

A WARNING
Use only new seals, bolts, nuts. To facilitate the removal of grease fasteners Copper paste LIQUI MOLI LM0-508-ASC. Do not allow paste to the exhaust pipe upstream of the catalytic converter.

9. Install exhaust system on the car and fasten the bolts (without tightening) the front exhaust pipe flange on the exhaust manifold.
10. Connect the exhaust system with a body rubber parts of the suspension. The distance from the parts of the exhaust system of the body parts should be within 25 mm.

11. Install the front exhaust pipe threaded plate and tighten new nuts 1 (fig. 5.57) to the mounting bracket to 20 Nm.
Connect pin oxygen concentration sensor.
12. Install the lower engine compartment panel.
13. Start up the engine and check the exhaust system for leaks.

A WARNING
Disposal of the catalytic converter
Overage catalytic converters contain precious metals, which can then be used. Customer Service Mercedes-Benz take exhaust catalytic converters in exchange for new ones with additional payment.

A WARNING
It is not allowed to open the catalytic converter catalyst, as contained within the highly toxic substances.
