The imbalance of the wheel
| Fig. 7.34. The imbalance of the wheel: a - static; b - in dynamics
|
The imbalance on the wheel there is a vibration in the steering wheel or the front of the car shaking. Both are particularly pronounced at certain speeds. The reason for this - the uneven weight distribution on the wheel. There are wheel imbalance in statics and dynamics. Imbalance static occurs when freely suspended rotating wheel is constantly swinging on the same site (Fig. 7.34, a). This tire will jump motion and shock absorbers wear out faster. Imbalance in dynamics occurs when the wheel is at an angle to the axis (Fig. 7.34, b). At high speeds, it fluctuates and rocking.
PRACTICAL ADVICE The imbalance of the wheel When an imbalance in the first step is to thoroughly wash wheel, especially on the inside. Perhaps after that the cause is resolved. Accurate balancing is recommended, at least for the front wheels, as even the slightest of imbalance is felt on the steering wheel. Balancing the right rear wheel on the car is dangerous. It may be damaged differential. Therefore, the wheel must be driven by a motor. |
Therefore, the wheel static and dynamic balancing of demand. For this there are two methods: 1. The wheel is removed from the car and is screwed to a special balancer. The wheel turns on it and indicates the location of the imbalance. Alignment is done by attaching special imbalance balancing weights on the wheel. 2. Sometimes used a more accurate final balancing. For this purpose already installed on the vehicle front wheels to rotate at the required speed by the stand pin shaft driven by the motor. Featured locations imbalance also flattened by the weights. However, from Mercedes considers this procedure redundant, since the wheels produced cars well aligned. Balancing - not an easy task. The need to limit as much as possible fewer weights, which may require repeated permutations. Tyres with the beating of height greater than 1 mm and side - more than 1.6 mm can not be the final balancing. The same applies to tires with a damaged frame, for example, as a result of a collision at high speed on a curb or other obstacle.
