Accessory Belt

Each engine is equipped with accessory drive belt. On the labor side of the belt has several V-grooves to prevent slippage. This is called the Poly-V belt. Special work on the belt tension is not required, since all engines, it is automatically maintained natyazhitelnym roller. The belt has a long life, so it is recommended to check its condition after a run of about 30 000 km. However, the car should always have a spare belt.

Checking the technical condition of accessory drive belt

SEQUENCE OF WORK
"30 000 km 2, the"
1. Turn off the ignition.

Checking the technical condition of accessory drive belt

2. Label belt with chalk in a place easily visible (Fig. 5.4, arrow).
3. Set the gear lever to the neutral position.
4. The parking brake to slow down the car.
5. Turn the engine by means of the socket wrench until the belt chalk markings.

A WARNING
The motor rotates clockwise only.

6. Turn several times crankshaft. The only way you will be able to view the entire belt. Often it is just one, but a very deep cut that checking is not visible, because this place is a belt on a pulley.
7. Check the outer surface of the belt.
8. The belt should be replaced, if you found the following defects:
- Uneven wear marks on the edges of the belt;
- Porous surface, or "fringe";
- Cuts;
- Traces of oil or fat.

Removal, installation and tension accessory drive belt
4-cylinder in-line engine
SEQUENCE OF WORK
Withdrawal
For models with automatic heating or air-conditioning system release until 08.1996 g.:
1. Remove viscous fan clutch.
For all models:

Changing the tension accessory drive belt
Fig. 5.5. Changing the tension accessory drive belt: 1 - a belt; 2 - Key

2. Replace the bolt tension roller key 2 (Fig. 5.5) to face head Torx E10 and turning the key counter-clockwise to loosen the belt tension 1.
3. Remove the belt.

A WARNING
Do not tilt the tensioning lever of the tension wheel nut.

Setting
4. Check the profiles of pulleys and tensioning device for damage and contamination. If necessary, clean or replace parts.
5. Check bearings and tensioner pulleys for the presence of the rib chipping.
6. Check the condition of the belt. If there is contamination of streams, razlohmachivanie, transverse cracks or breaks, the belt should be replaced.

Install accessory drive belt on the 4-cylinder engine
Fig. 5.6. Install accessory drive belt on the 4-cylinder engine 1 - a tension roller; 2 - the crankshaft; 3 - compressor (air conditioning); 4 - alternator; 5 - power steering pump; 6 - coolant pump

7. Put on a belt pulleys, since a tension roller 1 (Fig. 5.6) and then according to the numbering shown in the diagram.

Installing the tensioning pulley
Fig. 5.7. Installing the tensioning pulley 1 - the holder; 2 - tensioning lever; 3 - a tension roller; 4 - bolt Torx E10

8. Release the tension roller 3 (Fig. 5.7). Tag "B" should be positioned in the working area "A". Out beyond the label of the zone indicates a discrepancy between the length of the belt for the motor or failure of the tensioner.
9. Check the position of the belt on the pulleys.
10. Install viscous fan clutch.

6-cylinder in-line engine (more information)

A WARNING
Since the motor mounted idlers two embodiments - the diameters of 92 mm and 80 mm, the required belts of different length. When installing the tensioning pulley diameter of 80 mm is required belt 20 mm shorter than the installation of a roller diameter of 92 mm.

SEQUENCE OF WORK
Withdrawal
1. Remove the fan shroud.
2. Place the key with a face head SW15 on the tension wheel nut and turning the key counter-clockwise to loosen the belt tension.
3. Remove the belt.
Setting

4. Put the belt on pulleys, since a tension roller 1 (Fig. 5.8) and then according to the numbering shown in the diagram.
5. Loosen the tension roller by turning the key clockwise. Put the belt completely.
6. Check the position of the belt on the pulleys.
7. Insert the fan shroud ring, and turn the lock.

Withdrawal
1. Remove the fan with viscous coupling.
2. Remove the fan shroud.
3. Loosen the belt tension, which set Torx socket wrench on the bolt tensioning pulley and turn counterclockwise.
4. Remove the belt.
Setting
