Hydropushers
On engines of the E-Class has a hydraulic valve control system. Application of hydraulic adjustment with hydropushers significantly reduces engine noise compared to the operation of conventional valves. Hydropushers located directly between the cams of the camshaft and the end of the valve stem, they provide a clearance in the valve, and at the same time tightly closed valves adjacent to the seat. The principle of hydropushers described in section 4. The causes knocking in the engine may be other faults, which are described below.
PRACTICAL ADVICE Knock valves when the engine is started When the engine is started hydropushers immediately come into operation for this purpose, special check valves. They are designed to fill the oil lubrication system and the oil channel hydropushers and camshaft bearings. If the engine has not worked for a long time, the sound of the valve is not the cause of failure. The fact that the long running engines oil hydropushers flows. When the engine is allowed, hydropushers filled with oil, and the sound disappears. If the sound of the valves in the cylinder head extends to the engine is warm, it indicates a defect of one or more hydropushers. They can not be repaired and must be replaced. Cause knocking valves extending from a few seconds to 10 minutes, can be the following: - Before starting the engine it was replaced with the oil; - The engine did not work more than one day; - The engine is started up after the repair (replacement of pushers). |
Check hydropushers 1. Warm up the engine to operating temperature and leave to idle before turning on the fan. 2. Within 2 minutes, run the engine at high speed (2500 min -1). 3. If the valves knocking continues - Stop the engine. 4. Remove the cylinder head cover. 5. Turn the crankshaft of the engine so that the checked cylinder camshaft lobes facing up.

6. wooden or plastic pin 1 (Fig. 5.2), push the plunger 2.
A WARNING Do not use metal tools, as it leads to scratching. |
If you feel "air" before the opening of the valve or the plunger quickly and without resistance is lowered, so the plunger needs to be replaced. This work should be done in the workshop experts.
PRACTICAL ADVICE The excess of the rated engine speed and engine life Increase speed reduces engine life. If the engine runs at higher speeds and at the same time heard unusual noises or knock it says on the wear of the crankshaft and valve train. If you wear heavy, it may break the pusher and the cylinder valve is not working. You will feel it to reduce the engine power. Worst case - the destruction of the valve springs and flying debris on moving the piston. As a rule, this leads to serious damage to the engine |
