Adjusting the switching mechanism

If gear shifting is difficult, its mechanism can be adjusted with the assistant. Before you begin, check to see if the details of the mechanism and there are not worn bearing bushes. At the workshop to adjust using a special device, which is mounted on the shaft of the gear change control.

Five-speed manual gearshift sectional
Fig. 6.4. Five-speed manual gearshift in section 1 - dual-mass flywheel; 2 - driven plate; 3 - clutch pressure plate; 4 - clutch; 5 - The front cover is a mechanical gearbox; 6 - the case of a manual gear change; 7 - back cover mechanical gearbox; 8 - output flange; 9 - a secondary shaft; 10 - a primary shaft

The torque from the engine is transmitted through the clutch disc 2 (Fig. 6.4) on the input shaft 10 gearbox. It situated front pinion gear and pinion reverse gear. These gears are in mesh with the gear disposed on the secondary shaft 9. The reverse gear is engaged via an intermediate gear which reverses the direction of rotation is reversed.
The gears and shafts.
If the transfer is not included at all, the primary gear shaft rotate without passing moment. When the transmission from one gear input shaft connected to the gear output shaft and the torque with a suitable gear ratio is transmitted to the secondary shaft gearbox. The ratio of the number of teeth of the gear pair and forms the gear ratio. All transmissions are synchronized. Due to the speed synchronizers are aligned and pinion shaft located on this shaft, whereupon the synchronizer sleeve connected to a pinion unstressed. As a result of the transfer included easily and quietly. Friction elements slowing down more rapidly rotating parts, ensure alignment of coming into contact details. Synchronization occurs within fractions of a second, so it is important when changing gear lever is smooth, with some delay.
Peregazovkoy the operation of a fully synchronized gearbox is not normally required. Only at low temperatures and thick transmission oil it can help in the transition to a lower gear.
Forward and reverse.

Location rods shift from a five-speed manual transmission
Fig. 6.5. Location rods shift from a five-speed manual transmission

The first three forward gears increase torque. 4-I, the so-called direct transfer, transmits torque of approximately 1: 1 ratio. On the 5th gear speed is output shaft above the engine speed. In order to make the car could not move in reverse, there is an additional gear, which reverses the direction of rotation of the wheels on the opposite. When you select the right gear shift lever, the movement of the lever through the rod (Fig. 6.5) is transmitted to the switching mechanism in the gearbox.

SEQUENCE OF WORK
1. Move the shift lever to the neutral position.
2. Place the vehicle on the stand and remove the bottom protection of the engine.

Fixing the intermediate levers mechanical gearbox using a drill (arrow) with a diameter of 5.9 mm

3. Secure the intermediate lever (under the support of the shift lever) by inserting the drill bit with a diameter of 5.9 mm openings supports the switching mechanism and intermediate levers (Figure 6.6). At the workshop for this to apply special locking finger with a diameter of 5.9 mm.

To adjust thrust, loosen the bolts shown by the arrows and move the rod in a fixed position

4. If the length of each corresponds to the required thrust, thrust without bias should approach the intermediate gear lever switch. Otherwise, loosen the screws (Fig. 6.7 arrows) securing rod to gearbox and move the rod in a fixed position.
5. Move the shift lever to the transmission in the neutral position and in this position, tighten the bolts.
6. Remove the drill and check the gear changes when the engine is running.
