Replacing the front section of the exhaust system on petrol models



Details of installation of the front section of the exhaust system on models 163.136 (111 series engine)

9/1 - Rubber surround
10 - bracket of the exhaust system on the transmission housing
11/1 - Bolts

158 - three-functional catalytic converter (TWC)


PERFORMANCE ORDER

The structure of the front section includes a three-functional catalytic converter (TWC).

  1. Details of installation of the assembly of the front section of the exhaust system with trifunctional catalytic converter (TWC) models 163.136 (engine series 111) are shown in the illustration, which includes all the links in the text.
  2. Support the transmission and remove the rear suspension support of the power unit (see chap. Engine).
  3. Give nuts (11/2) securing the front section of the exhaust system to the support bracket (10).
  4. Otboltite bracket (10) of the transmission housing.
  5. Release the clamp welded to the rear section of the front.
  6. Remove the front section with rubber surround (9/1). Assess the suspensions, replace the defective items.
  7. Separate the front assembly from the back section and remove it from under the car. Check the condition of the bottom thermoprotective screens, defective components zamnite.
  8. Installation is in the reverse order.

Dispose of defective catalytic converters must be carried out in compliance with the legislation!

M112 / 113 (except ML 55 AMG)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

The structure of each of the front section includes two (front and rear) trifunctional catalytic converter (TWC).

  1. Details of the installation of the front section of the exhaust system on the models equipped with engines of 112 and 113 series (except ML 55 AMG), shown in the illustration, which includes all the links in the text.
  2. Poddomkratte the front of the car and establish it on props.
  3. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the diagnostic sensors.
  4. Release welded clamps and separate the front section of the exhaust system from the rear.
  5. Give nuts (11/2) securing the front section of the exhaust system to the bracket on the transmission housing, - the nuts must be replaced without fail.
  6. Remove the front wheels and wheel arch lockers protection.
  7. Remove the screws (11/1) and separate receiver tube of the front section of the exhaust system of the engine exhaust manifold, - if necessary, replace the manifold nuts.
  8. Remove the front section of the liberated from under the car.
  9. Installation is in the reverse order.

Dispose of defective catalytic converters must be carried out in compliance with the legislation!

PERFORMANCE ORDER

The structure of each of the front section includes two (front and rear) trifunctional catalytic converter (TWC).

  1. Details of the installation of the front section of the exhaust system on the ML 55 AMG, are shown in the illustration, which includes all the links in the text.
  2. Remove the front wheels and wheel arch lockers protection.
  3. Remove the front springs.
  4. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the lambda probes.
  5. Remove the mounting bolts (3), give nuts (2) and remove the support bracket (2), - check the condition of the threaded bars (5), in case of need make replacement nuts must be replaced without fail.
  6. Release welded fixing collars (6) - Stirrup nuts must be replaced without fail.
  7. Remove the front section of the exhaust system from the rear.
  8. Remove the bolts (7) flanges (8 and 9), separate reception pipe from the exhaust manifold, and remove the front section of the exhaust system of a car - try not to damage thermofilters, if necessary, replace the manifold nuts and flange bolts.
  9. Installation is in the reverse order.

Dispose of defective catalytic converters must be carried out in compliance with the legislation!
