Refitting

Models with the carburettor engine of 4.2 l

Withdrawal

The components of the exhaust system
1 - a reception pipe
2 - nuts
3 - installation
4 - a flange
5 - thermofilter
6 - a collar
7 - Bolts
8 - rubber pads
9 - washers
10 - assembling the exhaust pipe
11 - the intermediate section with a silencer

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Poddomkratte car and establish it on props.

Before embarking on the giving of any fixture exhaust system saturate it suitable composition or penetrating rust converter.

  1. Give nuts and bolts of the flange of the exhaust pipe system to the intermediate section with a silencer. Give a nut bearing of the exhaust pipe, washers, rubber pads and the bolt and remove the exhaust pipe from under the car.
  2. Give nuts and bolts of the intermediate section with a silencer to a reception pipe exhaust system.
  3. Give fixture brackets suspension of the intermediate section with the muffler, remove the rubber pads washers and remove the assembly from the vehicle.

In case of problems with disconnecting sections of each other, they can be cut with a hacksaw or pipe cutter and subsequent replacement.

When Giving "become attached" fixture, be careful not to damage the floor panels, fuel or brake lines or electrical wiring chassis.

  1. Give nuts of fastening of a reception pipe to the exhaust manifold.
  2. Give a nut adjustable suspension front pipe, remove the washer, rubber pads, and remove the bolt assembly from under the vehicle.

Setting

Installation is in the reverse order.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Sand mating surfaces of flanged connections, be sure to replace the gasket.
  2. First, install all of the sections of the vehicle, without tightening their final fixture.
  3. Check the arrangement of the components, make sure they do not touch the bottom of the car and the elements of the chassis and suspension. If necessary, tweak the position of the sections.
  4. Tighten the fasteners, starting with the front exhaust pipe flange connection with the exhaust manifold.
  5. Start the engine and check the exhaust system for signs of leakage of exhaust gases.
  6. Remove the cause of leaks, then lower the car on the ground.

Models with the carburettor engine of 3.0 l

Procedures for removing and installing the components in the exhaust system is completely the same as those for gasoline engines 4.2 liters.

1 - thermofilter
2 - bolts
3 - nuts
4 - a collar
5 - a lining
6 - a reception pipe
7 - rubber cushions
8 - washers
9 - assembling the exhaust pipe
10 - an arm
11 intermediate section with a silencer

Models with the engine of 4.2 l EFI (1992 vol.)

The design of the exhaust system model 4.2 liter EFI basically little different from those shown in the illustrations, except for installation between the receiving pipe and silencer catalytic converter.

The catalytic converter is a component of emission control and is placed in a metal casing ceramic core coated with a layer of platinum, palladium and rhodium. Passing through the transducer contained in the exhaust gases of hydrocarbon compounds, nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO) is converted by chemical reaction into carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water.

Under normal conditions, catalytic converter does not need regular maintenance or replacement. However, it may be damaged or irreversibly contaminated due to exposure to excessive temperatures of the exhaust gases entering the raw fuel or using leaded fuel (high lead). To prevent accidental refueling with leaded fuel tank models equipped with a 4.2 liter EFI filler neck of smaller diameter, which is also equipped with a spring-loaded trap door. The ceramic core can also be damaged by shock and strong impacts. In case of overheating or zasvintsovyvanii core is a violation of his cross, which leads to a reduction in the flow cross section of the exhaust tract, increase resistance to reduce the release of gases and thus the efficiency of the engine.
The motor vehicle equipped with a catalytic converter must be poured oil with low content of phosphorus.

To avoid damaging the catalytic converter regulations must be observed:

  1. Do not refuel the car leaded fuel;
  2. Do not start the car with the point and do not tow it;
  3. Try to avoid long-term operation of the engine at idle;
  4. Do not use the vehicle in the event of a misfire;
  5. Do not completely deplete the fuel.
