Brakes

Management of functioning of brake system made by means of a bypass of the main brake cylinder (GTZ), dual-type articulated with vacuum booster (servo unit) brakes.

Front wheel drive vehicle equipped with disc brakes, rear - drums (with a vertical arrangement of shoes). The variant on all wheels disc mechanism. For safety reasons, the contours of the front and rear brakes operate independently and are separated from each other.

The hydraulic system is equipped with some models sensitive to car loading valve - a pressure regulator, which allows to avoid premature locking of the rear wheels.

The valve is installed under the vehicle and is connected to a tension spring with the rear axle.

The structure of the disc brake assembly includes a brake disk fixed on a wheel hub and a support located on the knuckle (front mechanisms) or on the rear axle assembly. Disc brakes do not need to be adjusted.

Drum mechanisms consist of double wheel cylinder pistons which act on the upper ends of the brake shoes. The bottom of the shoes are fixed. Adjusting the drum mechanism automatically during braking.

The parking brake is designed as a drum assembly mounted at the rear of the transmission and equipped cable operated.

Disc brakes models 4.2 liter EFI later (since 1992) years of release modified by the use of 2-piston calipers and larger diameter brake discs. At the same time all the procedures set out below repair and service remain unchanged. Components 2-piston calipers shown in the accompanying illustration.
